A little bit o' classic L.A. rock for a Friday.

Been on a late spring cleaning mission, since there is no more Fulham to watch, and ran into my old CDs. Noticed this band in my collection, Fun band to listen to while clearing out junk!

BTW, I really enjoy the fact that we no longer have to buy any physical items to watch movies or listen to music. Makes moving and cleaning so much easier.

"Easier"?? Huh! -- those of us old farts who refuse to let go (there is a difference in sound quality) of our records have to brave the possibility of a hernia. On second thought, putting everything on digital doesn't sound like a bad idea . . .

My theme for next season - Reasons to be cheerful: Trotta, Briggs, Frei, Stockdale . . . (and to praying that there's not an exodus of Dempsey and Dembele!)

I still have the discs. I am not bothered by the difference in sound of MP3s or picture quality for movies(especially for movies since I have a receiver that upscales the picture to 1080p regardless of source). I am just wondering what in world I should do with my VHS tapes. I have been researching this issue for bit on the internet. Seems I just can't just dump 'em in the trash. Sigh.

Far as music goes, I got no problem as long as it conveys the venue and audience experience. And has 'decent' sound quality That means I get most of my music from youtube downloads, converted to MP3.

OR.. it's a unique event situation.. I play this over and over... Peter Wolf {J Geils} at a friend's backyard anniversary party:
Note how the pickup band gets into it in the second part

Yeah.. I have an upscaling DVD player. It's amazing how good a std dvd picture comes out on a 720P Samsung that's set to accept 1080i. At least to a geezer's eyes. 20/20 glasses or not.
In fact, while I prefer to watch the HD channels, I am going to dump the STB and HD tier in favor of a WMC7 with only extended -77 channel- basic cable recording/translating/HD Locals tuner {Hauppauge}. Far superior to Tivo2 on basic channel replay.

Okay.. what is it those watermelon fascisti say makes Gaia cry, now? Chromium? Just SEARCHING for that helped ruin the planet, you know...

Here's how.. build a 4x4 sunbox, line with black plastic, put a single layer of tapes in it and cover with an old glass window and set it in the sun. My bet, in 4 or 5 five months, the nasty bits will crumble to dust when you give the tape carrier a good whack. The rest should be recyclable ABS and nylon derivative.
Put on your hazmat suit and sweep all the dust into your eco friendly vacuum and sell it to a plating plant.
    ;)

 That requires too much work.

I figure I might try my luck giving em away on craigslist. I am never buying or recording movies* again, unless it's just a digital copy. I will free my home from junk...eventually.

*same goes for books too. Unless a physical copy is absolutely necessary.

Saw Radiohead live for the 3rd time on Wednesday. By far the best show I've been to! I was about 5 feet from the stage!

Nice job, MisterF. One of the best I've ever seen live - if you're in to them, they don't disappoint for sure.

I've seen dozens of different shows over the years but there's nothing like a Radiohead performance, especially right up close!

My first ever rock concert waaay back in '83 at the old Commiskey Park in Chicago was The Police headlining and among the opening acts was one of favorite bands of the 80's, The Fixx. Making the drive down to Redondo Beach mañana to watch them, fired up that's it's the original line-up with so many great songs to play. Hard to believe it's been...gulp almost 30 years.
