BTW: There is a release of Bowie's demo of "Space Oddity" which is pretty good for a guy singing with an acoustic guitar.

I figured I'd jump in here with a quick report on last week's Coachella festival, which I was fortunate enough to attend. Also fortunate to avoid the seering triple-digit temperatures this week's crowd is experiencing.

Indeed the cool temperatures and intermittent drizzle last Friday (by some accounts, the first time it's ever rained in the festival's history) provided a perfect setting to see a couple Sheffield bands. And indeed it was Pulp that ended up a highlight of the entire weekend. Despite coming of musical age in the days of Britpop, I had never had the opportunity to see them live until last week. And they certainly impressed. The crowd was quite welcoming for what was their first show in Souther California in some 15 years.

Other highlights of the weekend definitely included Saturday's headlining slot from Radiohead, as well as sets from GIRLS, Arctic Monkeys, The Vaccines, and Wild Flag.

 

Awesome! Always wanted to go to Coachella but it's a pretty long trip from here in Ohio. Saw clips of the Tupac hologram which looked pretty crazy.

Glad to hear Radiohead was a highlight. I'm going to see them for the 3rd time this June in Cleveland! Can't wait to hear their newer stuff live.

 

I've seen Radiohead a couple of times in the early 2000s - I have to say, it was brilliant each time. Enjoy sir.

But for this post, RIP Levon Helm. Drummers as singers? Any better? Phil Collins has a shout, and maybe equal, but my mind is blank as to others right now - I'm sure there are, but I can't remember...ah, the "Last Waltz:"

Heather that is so funny that you posted the pixies. Right before you I was either going to post the Pixies or Poi Dog Pondering and I chose the later. The acoustic version you posted are nice!

We grew up on the same block. I had no use for him, not only because he was a couple years younger than I, but also because I thought him a twerp. Ah, well, I am sad for his parents.

A fondly remembered clip from the muppet show, my memory sparked for it after I heard Buffalo Springfield's "Bluebird" today...
