Sorry, I get that song stuck in my head. Had to see if there was a youtube vid for it. Sure enough it's just as sappy and dopey as the song. One of those moments where I'm glad it was before my time.

The mark of a great cover is when the artist can take a seemingly untouchable song like Judy Garland's Over the Rainbow and turn into something their own. The late Iz did it his way and it's an amazing version. That song ends the Sandler/Barrymore movie 50 First Dates, which made me think of another song from a different S/B flick that in fairness and balance between the hope, faith, and love message the Iz and Armstrong songs gave needs to be shared. After all, we are Fulham fans and...

Or we can just wallow in this ;)

The J. Geils song made me think of this. And Fulham should give us 3 points, well....

Nev, please don't think the Nats are my team. I've been a Sox fan since my first game at Fenway at the age of 6. I like the Nats over the O's and briefly had them as my avatar because of someone's cartoon bird trying to hit a ball.

SoCal might have smog, earthquakes, packed freeways, and this damn drought, but we also have amazing venues for music. Went for my anniversary to the magical Greek Theatre for Hall and Oates last night. Great concert with nothing but wall to wall hits. Check the 600 tv channels you have for Palladium. Live from Daryl's House is a good show.

I just read that the Allman Brothers Band has disbanded, will not record nor perform again. Here's what I think is their best song. If you disagree, PLEASE PLEASE post others that you think are better.

Both are great tunes that are eternally implanted in my head - love me some Allmans. I can listen to anything Duane played all of the time. Betts was no slouch either.

I also love Hall & Oates, but this one came to mind re the riff challenge. The original is majestic, but SRV took a swing and hit it out of the park.

This is old, but fantastic. Apologies if it's already been shared somewhere in the 20 pages in this thread.

My favorite Allman Brothers stuff is from when Duane was still in the band, particularly the At Fillmore East album, which I've probably listened to more than any other album. My favorite song from that album is In Memory of Elizabeth Reed; the guitar work is amazing. As I understand it, the song title came from a time when Dickey Betts and his girlfriend were getting "friendly" in a graveyard, and Elizabeth Reed's headstone was nearby.
