Have a Bob Dylan connection on this post. One of my wife's favorite bands of the early 90's was INXS who's lead singer Michael Hutchence passed away 16 years ago yesterday. Here is two songs, the first of which was one of their biggest hits, the second one they channel their inner Dylan and pay tribute to his famous Subterranean Homesick Blues clip:

Here is the Dylan song that inspired it. The only one I could find w/Dylan singing and flipping the cards has annoying film maker commentary over it, so here is the song w/a frozen BD:

I'll cop to being an INXS fan since a wee lad. Classic early '80s video - including some kind of synth/keyboard on an overhead stand. Re Mr. Hutchence, he certainly went out with a bang, just far too early.

Matt's post on Captain Danny's thoughts is a must read, and spot on from someone who still has plenty of friends on the squad (hmm, I wonder is Duff and him talk?). It will take a serious attitude adjustment and commitment to survive. I know the Paul McCartney and Wings version is a classic, but give me Slash on his guitar and Guns-N-Roses at their peak for this one:

Heh.. guess what. Not only is this old fart older than you are but my farts are older than you are.
    And I agree.
As to the top of the thread, I am of Dylan's generation and will never discount his influence... part of which I believe culminated with the Doors and Pink Floyd. I know that sounds weird but think about it.

Fortunately the 'remove all sharp objects from my reach' genre eventually faded, and only revived for a while with the northwest punk/goth groups.
And sorry.. I never did take them seriously.

Speaking of Americans in London, this sweet little thang was from a BBC TV program.

That is simply amazing. I'd never heard that before. I'm embarrassed to call myself a songwriter.

And now for something completely different ...

Christmas at K-Mart by Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band ... grandson of a Speaker of the House of Representatives ... fraternity brother of George W. Bush at Yale ... acid casualty

"I must have died and gone to heaven, 'cause hell is Christmas at the 7-11"

Hard to beat Seger on about anything.. he's the master. I remember when I thought Kenny Rogers was really good. Yeah, really good at singing Seger's stuff.
    Lol...
Two local concerts I WANT to attend but keep missing.. hear about them after the fact.. Bob Seger and Weird Al. If you laugh at me liking Weird Al, you've never seen a Weird Al concert.
