In honor of the boys in the red, white and blue and their match tonight. The lyrics to the song are bittersweet and ironic now that the kraut is in charge, but it's still nice to remember. Doesnt Rivers Cuomo look like Dana Carvey in a US Soccer jacket?

Obviously didn't shoot this myself, but I was there, which counts for something, right?

The introduction from Dave Grohl was pretty good. I got me some chills when he starts reeling off the albums. can't want to see them in Denver - Aug 4!

Ok, this is bad, but it's been stuck in my head for the past few days (and Grace Slick circa Airplane is always stuck in my head, but that's another story...)

Since you mentioned Derek and the Dominoes ...

This clip is from the documentary Tom Dowd and the Language of Music, and tells the story of how Tom Dowd introduced Eric Clapton and Duane Allman and then produced Layla. It includes some footage of Tom Dowd playing around with the Layla master tapes, which I find really cool:

The documentary is well worth searching out. Tom Dowd worked on the Manhattan Project (the BOMB) before deciding to go into music, contributed advancements in the technology of recording music, and worked with artists from John Coltrane to Lynard Skynard. Here's the website for the documentary.

Pretty cool version of "Space Oddity".
I'd rather think of cover versions of Bowie songs than FFC (even though I do realize we are up in the BPL for another year -- barely).

    Time to revive this thread.

Since the US is playing Jamaica and I like to sing this song every once in awhile to my kids.
