Fulham's Standing Heading into the International Break

Fulham's odds at getting automatic promotion got a lift when Bournemouth defeated Huddersfield. Luton's win lifted them above Huddersfield to third place - 14 points behind Fulham and with an extra game played too. If Fulham didn't win another point for the remainder of the season and Luton got 1.7 Points Per Match (their season average) Luton still wouldn't have enough points to get past Fulham. Fulham does have a tough run over the remainder of the season, but even minimal results will get them promoted.

The win keeps Bournemouth still in the hunt for winning the league, but they are facing an April that is only slightly less challenging than the one Fulham has. The Cherries still have away matches at Blackburn and Sheffield United with home matches against playoff chasing Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest - and West Brom who showed they can still be tough despite their recent slump. The league will be won by Fulham or Bournemouth and they will have to do it by winning some big matches left on their schedule.

@timmyg what does the math say now about the points needed for promotion?

 

Not counting them chickens, but it's hard not to see how many there are.

The extra offseason time will be important in stopping the yoyo.

Anyway according to Cottage Analytica, points remain the same: 12 for promotion and 23 for the title. The person(s) behind the account project promotion will happen against Derby on 4/15 or Preston on 4/18. Evidently Notts Forest is driving the magic number.
