I didnt think the team could play any worse than they did at old trafford, but wow.

They could.

Roy needs to make changes for wednesday -- the lads didnt give up after 20 minutes because of the score.

They gave up because they couldnt run anymore.

Yah, I suffered with you all too watching at The Coat of Arms in Portsmouth, NH, where owners are big ManU fans, so it was tough. But glad Kamara is on the mend. He will be strong! Coyw!

We could all dissect and discuss that game yesterday, we all have our own opinions, mine is that it was one of the most pathetic displays from a Fulham team in many a year.

There must have been very few of us who believed for one moment we could actually win the tie, but surely along with the staff, we thought that Fulhams only slim chance was to take the game to them at the Cottage. This was one of those games that you look forward to, the quarter final of the cup, yes its diminished in stature, but its still, the FA Cup, its as English as it gets.

The display in my humble opinion with or one or two exceptions lacked passion, players who this season looked like top prospects were totally overwhelmed, solid professionals cowered away, the tactics were woeful, yes 2 - 0 down against the Reds, so why at half time don't you change it then and there, no lets go three down.

I have already gone on far to long, but the bottom line is, I don't like my team losing in any circumstance, but yesterday was the worse, no passion, no tactical sense, and boring, we were very very bad, and you can sugar coat it all you want, we are now in a major dog fight at the bottom, and I can assure you RH knows it, that's why he was so upset at the loss to Hull, we are now only two wins clear of relegation, and we are a team that cannot score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were chasing the game against the best club side in the world,they played a striker that's valued at £25 mil and can't even get in there regular team!

I was so much more upset about the Hull game than I was about this!
As sombody else posted somewhere it they can only get worse and we can only improve-we are Fulham FC and we are 10th in a league we are dammed lucky to be in after last season-REMEMBER THIS!

look at Derby,look at Wolves, at Leeds for gods sake, all clubs that are so called "bigger" than "little" Fulham and are we playing them week in week out? no because they took this league for granted it bit them hard and they went down(right down in the case of Dirty Leeds lol)

look at who we are,where we are,and our league position and be happy and enjoy!

and rememeber WE ARE FULHAM!(and it's great to be us!)

 

Odd, I didn't find our performance to be near as poor as others. Yes, we have a finishing problem, but we created chances and we're not exactly the first club to get shutout by them. The gulf in class appeared obvious and they looked fresher.

The first goal was a result of PK falling asleep at the switch yet again and wandering off the back post. The next two were brilliant strikes and the final goal was a throwaway from a player who hustled like mad against a team down 3-0 late.

I had hoped we'd frustrate them and keep the score tighter, giving the crowd more of a chance to propel us, but ManU are on one hell of a run right now and we simply don't have the horses. We need to bounce back against Blackburn, but if we play our game I still like us to stay clear of the relegation fray.

While Kamara hasn't done much, I wouldn't be opposed to Roy giving him a run out in place of Zamora. He may just need some PT to shake off the rust (look what it did for Etuhu).

 

It's frustrating. Man U is a great side and I really didn't think we were going to win. But 4-0 is embarassing. Especially coming off of a 1-0 loss at home to Hull. I think a lot of it has to do with fixture congestion. We've been playing 2 matches a week for quite some time.

The good new is that I decided to try a different pub--Kitty O'Shea's in Arlington near the Courthouse metro stop (and near Summers, where I've gone before). Good things: (1) two other Fulham fans, both very nice and knowledgeable, (2) the ManU fans were cool about it--they cheered their goals but were not obnoxious or putting down Fulham, and (3) the food was pretty good. I'd like to be there Wednesday for the Blackburn game but I will be on travel for work and I don't see how I can fit it in.

 

As I write this, a glass of cab sav is in my hand, a fine glass of pain-away juice indeed. Bye bye, ugly loss from a side that could be one of the all time greats. So long, PK's mistake. Adieu, Vidic and VDS comedy. See you in two weeks.

After seeing the semifinal draw it seems that the FA (marketing people) want to save face from last year's final. Expect (another) ManU-Chelsea final.

 

Hmmmm... I wonder why Fulham turned up? According to some we never had a prayer in the world. Maybe the Fulham players got the Man Utd players to sign their shoe shine rags after they finished cleaning their boots.

That Man Utd - Woooo Weeee - they are awesome! I had a hard time watching the match because of their blinding awesomness! Probably a good idea to just roll over and take the beating - we wouldnt want to do anything like - I dont know - put in a shift, make things uncomfortable, or force them to have to work to beat us.

What did I expect? WHAT did I expect?!? I expected them to go out and play like it was the greatest match of their lives - because you know what? It might be! A real chance at a shot at Wembley!

Apparently Barnsley didnt know that they couldnt beat teams with strikers that have double digit value. I am also assuming that Portsmouth forgot that they were a 'little' club when they beat Man Utd last season.

But maybe Man Utd is only the greatest team in the Universe this year?

 

Jensers. You can't beat a team with that much talent when they play well, and, with the exception of the first 15 minutes and their back 2 in general, ManU played very well. Fulham does well against most teams because their pressure on the ball forces mistakes. Well, that's all well and good except when the other team doesn't make mistakes, when they make accurate one and two touch passes. To beat an in-form side like that takes another team that can do the same thing: make accurate one and two touch passes when under pressure - our lads are good, but they're not THAT good, not consistently....like ManU.

Yeah, I'm disappointed with the loss. For the first 15 mins or so, we gave as good as we got and gave them some nervous moments. Unfortunately, they got in rhythm and, against ManU, especially with Dean reffing, we aren't going to get many calls - we probably earned at least one penalty, but those aren't called against ManU.

I'm much more upset over the Hull game. This loss means 1) no more extra fixtures after Wednesday and 2) the 7th spot in the table will earn a UEFA cup spot. Losing by less woulda been nice, but I have to tip my hat - ManU were class.

 

Agreed - Man Utd are a fine team, and they did play well.

I guess when I tuned-in I was REALLY excited. Finally! A chance to see Fulham do more than just try to stay up.

What I saw was a group of guys that never really broke out of their shell - NOT the fire in the belly squad that we have seen at times this season.

Thats what I wanted - it didnt happen... Since I was (am) pissed, I wanted to see them get pissed and turn a corner - But once again, it didnt happen.

Ah well - they still can make Europe if they can get it together and see the season out... We still have something to look forward to.

 

Ugh, the fact that we have to play them again soon is the worst part.

Edit: For some perspective, nine of the players who started for Fulham on Saturday cost combined transfer fees of 26.75 million pounds. (I couldn't find numbers for Hangeland or Konchesky.) Rooney alone was worth 25.6M when ManU signed him. There's only so much you can do against the kind of quality ManU are putting on the field.

 

And we signed our players legitimately. Both Rooney and Tevez (who's owned by a COMPANY) should not be playing for United.

Same with Count Dracula who was sitting on the bench, and probably every other one of their players...
