BarryP, I share in your disbelief. We run out close to our first XI and lose, at the Cottage nonetheless, to a second tier Bolton squad? WTF? I know we hit the woodwork a couple of times in the second, but come on, it shouldn't even come to that with the squad Mr. Sanchez ran out.

As the omsdogg expressed: "Fulhamish." However, I will remember this gutless performance until something better comes of the Whites...such as a 2-nil whipping of the Scum this weekend (see, the myopia comes right back no matter how hard I try to suppress it!!!!).

COYW - but I'm still disgusted at their performance today.

We hit the crossbar twice in extra time and they were given a bad free kick before a questionable non-offside call.

Everyone's pissed and the team needs a win desperately, but we have to keep on fighting, and sneak out a point Sat.

The next five fixtures are Chelsea A, Portmouth H, Derby H, Sunderland A, and Reading H. I honestly think they'll get a minimum of 10 pts from those matches (which should get everyone's optimism back)

our defense is absolute crap. honestly, who the hell are danny guthrie and stelios!?

baird must go. boca should be on his way out. hughes hasnt impressed. only PK isnt totally screwing up.

yea, the carling cup is a mickey mouse tournament so this loss isnt that big of a deal in the scheme of things.

but this was bolton's jv squad!

i'm not sad or angry. i'm just embarrassed. this result is an absolute joke.

Timmy; Don't know Guthrie, but Stelious Giannakopolous is a damn good player. There's no question this is the type of game/opponent in which we have to get a result, just have faith the boys have it turned around by the middle of October.

Bolton is a UEFA Cup Team!!!

Bolton isn't a bad side. They were a top 8 team last year and drew with Tottenham on the weekend. They are currently playing in the UEFA Cup.

The only people not playing for them were Anelka and Diouf, who are hot and cold normally.

    Games like this happen.

Listening to the game on Fulham radio, we hit the post/bar a few times and their keeper made some great saves. On top of that, there is a strong argument that one of their goals was offsides.

Besides, at least we didn't lose to Coventry...

Jeez; I leave the chatroom with a nil-nil draw at half time and the match in charge of three blind mice and, while I'm getting seriously felt up by airport security, you guys let Bolton win -- BOLTON?

Sigh. Somebody's due for an ass kicking. I'd love for it to be the Scum, but I'll be patient.

    This is devastating.

The pressure is now on its time Sanchez delivered.

I mean fvcking Bolton, and yes they do suck. This will be tough to get over.

Calm down, Bolton has some quality. Sanchez and the team is doing fine. Loads better than last years's team, although relegation could still happen because the Premier League is no joke this year.

This side has too much quality to be relegated and if by some stroke of bad luck they are relegated it will be a big injustice to the supporters, Lawrie and MAF.

Supporters minds will be completely at ease and absent of this loss if three points are taken from Chelsea this weekend. It is a tall ask of the Whites, but Chelsea is ripe for the picking.

Good fortune has to arrive sometime for Fulham, doesn't it?

The problem is "these games" have happened far too frequently this campaign. I do believe Fulham's "cream" will rise to the top at some point this season, however until then, this loss needs to be called what it is: disgusting. Don't give me the "Bolton is a good side" bullshit...with aspirations for cup glory in the squad's crosshairs, dropping a 3rd or 4th round cup tie to Bolton at home is inexcusable. Pardon me if I don't hold the club in such low esteem as to believe the performance exhibited in this match is forgivable...it is not.

If it were United or Reds, I would find solace in fighting to extra time and hitting the woodwork a couple of times - but, as Bolton were the opponents, the performance falls far below reasonable expectations. This is not the same Bolton squad that fininshed 8th last year.

    Jeebus.

I thought I would add my musings to the post. Firstly, we played a bad shape, with Seol playing off Dempsey as the front two, neither suited it.

Bolton comprised reserves and fringe players, they were the better team for the first 60 minutes and only when we changed our personnel to allow two strikers to come on did we look any threat.

What was telling was that Baird was removed for Healy and Davies moved to the defence leaving Dempsey plaing in front. Baird was so bad at times that he was replaced by an attacking winger!

Their second goal was a blatent foul on Koncheksy, however, we should have wrapped the game up. We had what looked a good goal disallowed and hit the woodwork twice. But you make your own luck and our lack of strikers for the first 60 minutes cost up.

Some players had outstanding contributions. Dempsey was overall very good. His first touch was excellent and he distributed and moved well. He is a liitle lightweight in the air and easily muscled off the ball. Cid had him all night in the air. He looked much more at home on the wing.

Healy looked outstanding and Kamera was genuine quality. They linked well together and Dempsey fitted in with them. The three of them have a growing understanding and by Christmas I would expect them to be a real theat to any team.

Konchesky was sound. Boca was outstanding for the first 20 minutes, he ran the defence and organised the unit. He then made a small mistake and went quiet.

Overall the performance from 60 minutes on was excellent and I think that we will win more than we lose once the team has gelled.

    BTW the ref was awful.

This seems to be a recurring theme this year and I do not mean just for Fulham. I am wondering if the speed of the game has gotten to the point that one ref and two linesmen are not sufficient.
