My whole concern and worry regarding Al-Fayed and spending money is that the past two seasons we have been in a struggle to fight relegation in April. One of these seasons, relegation could quite possibly happen. And while Mo probably thinks he can just spend more money to get the team back into the Premiership, it is not that easy. I fear if a bit of money is not put into the club for players and such that one of these seasons relegation is going to happen and none of us want to see that.

I can respect the chairman not wanting to blow cash right and left, but the chairman must also try to be on par with other Premiership clubs in terms of spending. If he cannot do that, we are already in trouble.

According to someone [it was way back last night and I'd had a martini] on the offal last night, there's a "quick, pacy striker" who just moved to England recently and bagged a goal against the Fulham staff. Any chance you might get a first team shirt, Michael? :D

And don't Fulham stand to lose a lot of money in Prem TV contracts if they get regulated as well? Better to "fix the leak" now right?

Any chance we can get history lesson in a new thread on both Mike, Tom, and any others involved in the genesis of FUSA?

Sounds like it could be quite interesting. Something a little more in depth than "What is Fulham USA?".

No problem, but I am not sure I will be able to write something today. I will try to though this morning before work gets a bit busy.

You are absolutely correct with this statement. We would lose probably around 20 million pounds in TV rights if the club were to get relegated. For a club already struggling with cash, this would make things even more difficult. I would just as soon see us spend a bit of cash now to avoid relegation and the loss of greater amounts of money that go with the drop down the road.

among other things Coleman says he's been told he can't buy anymore :x

    - steed will never play for Fulham again, Coleman has received the full support of the board and chairman on this decision

    - looking to bring in a wide right player, will have to be on loan as he can't buy any more

    - FFC have accepted multiple offers for steed but he has refused to leave because he wants to go on a free next summer

-selling steed would free up money for two players

well that’s it folks another season with one of the weakest back lines in the league :( , and steed's a real a$$

I'm not so sure on the weakest backlines in the league...I think Christenval and Boca can get the job done, and with Queudrue at leftback we should definitely improve our goal differential.

And since I just jinxed the team on opening day...you can blame me for a 5-0 loss to Man U.

I'm afraid the numbers speak for themselves. 58 goals against last year, tied for 18th in that area. But yes Queudrue will help.

Spence, I think we've reduced that total to at least 45 just through acquisitions and maturity. I think the Bullard-Brown combo in midfield will also help the defense because I don't think it'll be as easy to flood us as before. That's why I think we'll wind up 10-12 this year.

Still be nice to get a good CB even if he isn't named Gooch.

And lets not forget that we only had Niemi for 6 months last season along with Bouba since he was hurt for more than half a season.

I was talking about this year's set-up, not last year's. Last year we never seemed to put our best defensive players in, due injuries, international play, or coach's descision. :? This year I think the defense improves.

Hope your right............I guess I'm just in a negative mindset right now. I'll watch my Fulham-Chelsea tape before Sunday, that will get my moral up.

What does everyone think Liam or Volz as our starting right back? Tough call but based on the tail end of last year I'm going to side with Rosienor for now.

Speaking of Gooch (although it DOES seem as though the book's been closed on that one)...
The new squad numbers were released the other day and #22 is open. And guess who wore 22 for the US Men's team... ya think they're leaving it open on purpose, just in case he's still thinking about playing at the Cottage?
Ehh... probably too convenient and good to be true... :(
