    RE: NYC Meet-Up??

Two notes from the BBC gossip page:

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped striker Louis Saha to step out of ex-Old Trafford star Ruud van Nistelrooy's shadow and help the club to success this season. (The Independent)

My comment: Anyone want to start a pool as to the first tiem Saha gets hurt and has to miss some playing time?

Winger Cristiano Ronaldo may play as a makeshift striker for Manchester United because the injured Wayne Rooney is set to miss Sunday's Premiership opener against Fulham. (Daily Mail)

My comment: Anytime we miss a player like Rooney is fine with me.

Great. That means even more diving and whining to the ref about fouls :).

    NYC Meet-Up?

It looks as though I'll probably head over to McCormack's, near NJGlen's auntie. That way, I don't have to spend the entire morning in Woodside, where there's even a Celtic pub.

Anyone else up for an early morning brunch?

I am going to have to watch it on tape delay. Tampa pubs dont open until 11:30 so I have to wait til 6:00 when the pub replays it.

I will be following the game via the web, because even though I have Setanta at home, we're at the beach and bars in Delaware aren't allowed to open until 11AM on Sunday.

(As I type this, I'm on the balcony of our friend's 9th floor condo in Bethany Beach, DE, overlooking the ocean, so I'm guessing I won't be getting a lot of sympathy for not being able to see the game.) :?

Any predictions from anyone? As I wrote in my match preview on the main page, I unfortunately think Manchester United will win 2-0 on Sunday. I obviously hope that is different, but it will be really tough to get a result Sunday.

Originally was thinking 0-1, Fulham. But now closer to game time, I'm thinking 1-1. If at The Cottage, would have been 2-1, Fulham.

I was wondering when we'd get around to this. As I posted on the IFF, I think that Bullard will "announce his presence with authority," and we'll split two points and two goals.

FYI: According to the IFF, Rooney WILL play alongside Saha tomorrow.

One thing about this site, I have never been more agitated or excited about the start to a season than I am right now -- even when I was a season ticket holder in the Bobber's Stand at LTFC.

COYW, let's get some tomorrow!

I am jacked up for this season to start as well. I will be up at 6:30AM here in Chicago tomorrow to watch Liverpool take down Sheffield United and then watch the unveiling of the Emirates Stadium and hopefully a thrashing by Arsenal on Aston Villa.

This game does have me a bit worried because Fulham is quite unpredictable but thats not to say Fulham can't win. I'll be travelling up to Old Trafford in the morning and I can't wait to cheer on our boys. Just listen out for us, the away allocation is officially sold out!!

I'll be up around 7:00 a.m. central to drive to buddies house, who has DirectTV. After the match, it is off to the pitch and hopefully to stick it in the face of the fat ass who comes out with his Man-who? crap on.

    Come On You Super Whites!!!

2-1 Manchester United, I think the game will be tied for most of the match but unfortunately United will get a late winner.

Feel the 1-1 tie is the best bet. I think the defense will come out with something to prove.

I'm hoping for a 1-1 draw, with a goal by McBride. (I have to pick Brian since I have him on my EPL Fulham Usa fantasy team...)

    Two reasons to be optomistic:

    1) They have done much better in the preseason than they have the last couple of years. Last year, in particualr, they looked terible in the leadup to the season, and

    2) The defense has especially been strong, and if you don't give up goals, you won't lose, at least!

Hmmm....... they hung with ManU pretty well last year at the cottage but the quality of Man U was to much. The score of the other game was 4-2 at Old Trafford but I don't really recall the game at all. Odds are against us, my moneys on 3-1 ManU.

This would be my starting eleven:

    -------------McBride-------------
    --------------Boa--------------
    Jensen----------------Bullard
    --------Brown---Diop------------
    Quedrue-Boca-Christanval-Liam
    -------------Nemi------------

Just off to Old Trafford, while the journey will be long, and chances are we will lose, I believe our boys can pull off a win.

4-1 Halftime not good, our defence is awful. Bring in Voltz and Boca.
