Actually I have been looking for a restaurant or shop that has a great Pie. Lower Marsh? Not too familiar with that area. Any directions or suggestions of a quality pie just let me know.

    Thank you much.

The Cutty Sark is undergoing a major refit, during the refit a fire broke out and has damaged some of the structure of the ship. The aim is to repair and restore in time for the Olympics in 2012.

In the meantime HMS Victory and Warrior in Portsmouth, both are spectacular.

Does "liquor" mean something different in England than it does in the US?

I see that there is three locations in the London area and I will definitely attempt to get a pie this weekend. Thank you for your help in broadening my English pallet.

    Cheers

I don't think so, but it is not in common usage.

Liquor is bought from an off-license (or offie).

Whisky, vodka etc are spirits or shorts

Everything else is either beer or alchopops.

    Hi Tom / Mike,
Did you guys sort out a pregame plan for Saturday? If so I'm 'in'. I may have a couple Northern Irish guys I work with in tow, they are recent Fulham fans (no surprise there).

I just asked what you were up to on a previous thread, haha.

Anywho, even though it's a late start I will be having a very late 'breakfast' at the Wetherspoons across from putney station (The Railway) and then head for the Bricklayers and finally the Golden Lion. I think I'll be fairly merry by kick off. We need to stick it to Citeh.

If you like Indian food, you've got to hit up Bombay Brasserie. Best Indian I've ever had. Try the Daily Thali.
    Courtfield Road, Gloucester tube stop.

The Southwark farmer's market across from Southwark chapel and around the corner from the Globe Theatre is a great place for some local immersion.

"accidentally" trip a Chelski fan for us!

T_o_M, i just typed out a rather long response and hit the wrong damn button. So in short.

I was just there for first time this summer and stayed with friend about 300 yards from London Bridge Tube Stop on that Borough High St. There was a fresh food market right there, "Borough Market." It's open to public on Fridays with an amazing amount of Suasage stands as well as anything else you could imagine. Grab a sandwich and a pint from the pub in the alley and hang out and drink, it was a great time.

there's also a great little pub that we went to that was right next to the replica of Francis Drake's ship. Of course, i hit different pubs each night, including one that only had about three tables inside and 4-5 outside, but had a great selection of beers.

Hope you are having a great time.

A friend of mine came across Arsenal tickets to the Carling Cup match against Newcastle this Tuesday at the Emirates Stadium... so my football experience will branch beyond the boundaries of Craven Cottage. I've heard great things about the ground from others who have visited it. Can't wait. I love this city...

I work over there, but live in NYC so I fly back and forth almost weekly. Hit the Tower of London.

Took the tour of the Tower of London about a week ago and it was great. Then walked along the River Thames and into the Tate. A busy day filled with lots of walking.

    Any other suggestions?

mjmwild, did I meet you at a game at the Red Lion last spring? If you're who I think, you ran out for a bit at halftime to get a haircut.
