Geordies take on our next opponent. I'll pull for the bar codes and hope they crush a bit of that Wet Spam spirit.

I'm rooting against anyone within 3 points of us. I LOVE it when that includes Spam.

I don't think I spent a winter in England as fierce as this one appears to be. The high here yesterday was 82, I think.

Seriously, is England's field management still in the 1930s?

Waterlogged pitches, frozen pitches, lights going out -- what is this crap.

So much for global warming eh? :)

Seriously bummed about no Fulham this weekend. Well, not sure if this is good for us since Big Sam will have more time to get his team sorted.

    Have a great weekend all!

timmyg, i completely agree. why are they still stuck in the 1900's when it comes to actually preparing and keep the pitch ready for play?

Maybe for next season we can sponsor shares for a bid to provide under-soil heating for the Cottage?

Any idea how quickly they reschedule these? Is there a chance they'd just play it tomorrow?

very unhappy-just got back-I've only come from Reading, how does this look to other teams???? I've been drinking with the Blackburn fans and they are top blokes-they set off at 6am,so that means they've been up since 5am ,when I got the tube back in to London they where singing "Premier League-your having a laugh" and they are right.I've never been embarrassed to be a Fulham supporter-I am today..................

well, the best news of the day is that the ToonTown-Spam draw ensures that we'll still be in 9th when the weekend is over. Only the Eastenders had a chance to overtake us. The worst news, is that a win would have put us above both Hull and Wigan [unless they also won] into 7th.

And, by the way, it looks now like 7th is what we're all fighting for.

So I checked the weather in London...today's high was 36. That's not even cold! If there was any frost on the pitch, couldn't they have just delayed the start by a half hour? Bart Starr would be rolling in his grave, if he were dead.

Hopefully this doesn't give Big Sam a chance to buy a real keeper before this one gets rescheduled.

In this day and age there is no reason why they should not have the ground heating system like some of the NFL stadiums have.

    Just found this:

According to the Telegraph The PL is going to investigate Fulham and Portsmouth about the postponements as "clubs are required to have undersoil heating, or another system of pitch protection that has been approved by the Premier League board."

The Premier League site did say it was only a small portion of the pitch at the Cottage that caused the postponement.

That is a bit over the top!! Both teams that were postponed today were 1) near water and 2) have old style grounds that allow the wind to whip right in.

I have seen the hard work the groundsman have put in all week and I feel really bad for them. They even slept at CC during the week.

Rob Styles is a joke and his comment of "98%" playable was him just rubbing it in.

And who cares what B'burn supporters think...only a few hundred made it down anyway.

Mike, realistically we are ALL very disappointed, you as well I'm sure, we did not get our Fulham fix this week, especially since they are playing so damn well. I think it is ok for the supporters to be very disappointed that the game was canceled due to weather.......you know that it would never happen over here so it is foreign to those of us in the US.

We don't know all the facts about the field condition, and the precautions that were taken by the Fulham crew to have it ready. I have no doubt they made a huge effort, as you reported, and you're right, being near water doesn't help. Hopefully the team will have some additional contingency plans in the future or install soil heaters or an electric blanket or something for the future.

My additional concern is that now Fulham have to squeeze two games into mid-week. Fulham will have less time to prepare for those two games as well as the weekend games following, which may not be to Fulham's advantage, especially against the weekend teams because they will have all week to rest & prepare for Fulham .
