Villareal are interested in Bobby Z

I know that I have not been one to show confidence in him as a striker as his shooting abilities have varied from one game to another, but I do think he is a valuable component to the fulham squad with his play making abilities. If we needed to replace him we would need someone to play the role of feeder to AJ

Anyone else really want Fulham to Just splurge and get someone who is creative and works their ass off like Yossi Benayoun of Liverpool? Not saying it would ever happen, just saying it would be nice. :)

Splurging is dangerous, but yeah, if Fulham existed in Utopia, splurging for all kinds of name players would be great. Hodgson will find some no-name gems for Fulham though, so even better do the costs.

Well, how about this guy Tevez? Apparently he is pretty good and hates man u... other than an insatiable hatred for Chelscum.. what more could you ask for?

I would probably choke on air if we signed him, but it would be exciting. However, maybe feel a little too Man City/Robinho esque.

Don't think we can afford that price tag. Strikes as a bit of a primadonna (which aren't all good strikers?).

I'd say, especially after watching the UEFA Cup semis and seeing so many of them, that we should look at the Brazilian talent that may be in our range. If they are willing to go to the Ukraine or Russia, London shoud be a MUCH more attractive option. Again, may be a little out of our range, but Vagner Love of CSKA Moscova would be great, or someone similar.

Thought this guy's name was familiar. It was from the first post in this thread. Here's what he did today:

No way we can afford this guy now.

Yeah, I agree. I bet it would take a lot to pull him away from them. I reall y think we need a good attacking center mid after today's game with Chelsea. Murphy started out great filling in for Bullard, but I am starting to feel that he is running out of steam in the attacking role.

the football league ended this weekend, and on my blog i posted some quick thoughts about who will probably go this summer, based on their respected performances.

I'd like EJ back for purely selfish, nationalistic reasons. If he has a shot at all of playing in WC 2010, I want our guys getting more playing time together. On that note, Fulham should get Gooch (he said for the hundredth time), and/or Donovan, and/or Beasley, and/or Bradley, and/or.....

    Good research and write-up, timmyg.

No to Donovan. I am just not sold on his mental makeup. At least this time w/ Bayern Munich he gave it an honest go, but I just don't like him outside of MLS.

As far as Googh, keep hope alive! I'd take him over PK.

Yeah, but Gooch ain't a left back. Thing is, Aron Hughes is getting a little long in the tooth. With both him and Hangeland automatic for international selection, we need a top quality backup in addition to Baird. Here's what I'd like our 1st team squad to look like:

GK -- Schwarzer, Stockdale, warm body
    RB -- Pants, Omozusi
CB -- Hughes, Hangeland, Baird, [new signing]
LB -- [new signing with a left foot], PK
    Defensive mid -- Etuhu, Andranik/Andreassen
Attacking mid -- Davies, Dempsey, Murphy, Barnes, [new signing], [new signing with a left foot]
Striker -- AJ, Zamora, EJ, Nevland, [new holding striker], [new running striker]

On your bike: Stoor, Kallio, Dacourt, Kamara, Gera, Gray, Bouazza

My list assumes we're going to sign Barnes and bring back EJ plus either Andranik or Andreassen

Andreasen is on loan to Hannover and under contract with Fulham thru 2011.

Seol went out on loan but I believe he was sold in the January '09 window. I could be wrong on that one (wishful thinking?).

Fulham is in for Ghana's Prince Tagoe (tall striker). Plays in Saudi Arabia.
