lots mroe going on in the rumor mill today. here are a few:

    from Setanta Sports:
Javi Belo from Xerez (Jozy's club whom he never played for)

"Bello, who is said to be an attacking player with good vision and quick passing, made his debut for Xerez B in May and is rated as a good prospect in Spain"

    http://www.setanta.com/uk/Articles/Foot ... nid-56478/

    from the Geelong Advisor:
    Matthew Spiranovic

"Spiranovic, part of the Socceroos' squad to play a World Cup qualifier against Bahrain in Sydney tonight, has played 25 games for German club FC Nuremberg since moving from Geelong in late 2006.

A standout in Australia's Olympic campaign in Beijing last year, Spiranovic has been nominated for the inaugural Australian Professional Footballers Association's Harry Kewell Medal to be awarded tomorrow night."

    from Sky Sports:

    Michael Ciani
"reports in France suggest that Premier League duo Bolton and Fulham are readying bids and the defender admits he would jump at the chance to move to England."

    Tranquillo Barnetta
"To be honest, we have offers from other countries but no offers currently from any Premier League sides. No coaches have been in touch"

Like to see a strong LB connection. I watched Kallio today and he stunk up Helsinki, Europe, and finally my livingroom. Slow, ponderous. We need somebody else to push The Alien.

It's a shame we didn't get to see Barnes get a run out with him being on the mend this past season, but I was impressed with him from the previous season. He's tremendous on the ball, can run at defenders and has the creativity we need. Should be able to land him at a decent price as well.

RvN is 32 (will be 33 in a few weeks) and coming off a serious knee injury; he's still got it when he's healthy, but it's tough to say how well he'll be moving come the start of next season.

Gooch on a free transfer, why not? Roy could mold him into a quality center back for Fulham and who better to learn from than Hangeland.

and Paintsil and Eliot and Baird and Volzy.

RB is the ONE position where we have reasonable depth.

I remember watching him when City where in the Premier League and thinking he was their one player with any quality. I like this signing, although I'm not sure what it means seeing as how we have Pants over there. Depth I guess.

I truly don't mean to let the air out of your ballon Don but you can take Volzy and Baird off the RB list. I know Volzy is well loved but his time at Fulham has most likely run its course and Baird under Roy has probably played more midfield than RB. That leaves JP, Stoor, Elliot and the newly arrived Kelly to fight for the position.

Omozusi mostly played CB this season, FWIW.

Going by the numbers on Kelly, I see an excellent defender, but a questionable passer. May have been hurt by longball tactics. But if there's one thing Roy really knows how to fix in a player, its his passing. So this could be a very good signing.

I agree w/ omsdogg -- I remember him (dimly) as being one of the only Brummies that looked ready for prime time.

What I am fired up to see is that Woy and MAF are diving into the transfer pool with two feet. It's early, and we're already working on adding needed depth to the squad. Especially at the back, since that is what makes the world go around, according to RH. Who am I to argue?

Have to agree with omsdogg that Roy doesn't seem to see Volzy as a Prem-caliber right back and doesn't see Baird as a right back at all. I guess this means Volzy and Stoor are sold, Omozusi is loaned out, and Baird stays on as center back/holding midfielder cover.

Yes, but if it is with two feet, is it still considered diving?

He's already played with us in all four divisions. Why not in Europe also?

New name: Basem Abbas! Plays LB with Iraq and looked very good in the first half against Spain. Anybody else watch that match?
