This time it's not switchgrass, it's Micanthus. Would seem a good thing until you use some brain power. Rather than listen to politicians and pressure groups like agri-universities and their funding agri-corps.

I told you earlier there's no such thing as 'waste agricultural products'. That goes for crop-land as well... even that which is currently fallow.

So the answer to the subject line is WRONG! We lose again.

Here's why: FuturePundit: Miscanthus Seen As Superior To Corn For Ethanol

Beside the fact that Micanthus is a rhisome, thus invasive and hard to kill.

This is the one [but nowhere near the only] issue that 'fog and I agree upon. Ethanol is a stupid idea. Even if the vegetable crop is not "food" per se, it affects the produciton of food. There's no way to stop politicians - of both major parties - from continuing to put new shades of lipstick on this pig. Fueling vehicles with food is stupid.

We'll have no relief from this crap until BOTH parties jointly announce that the Iowa caucuses will receive no attention from the DNC or RNC, and that results from that caucus will not be binding at the national convention. It is the insane two-year quest for this "first in the nation" beauty contest that created this.

We killed the electric car; we run in fear from nuclear energy; we refuse to build fuel efficient cars, and we drive food prices up all over the world so we can take the prime source of nutrition for billions of people and burn it in our Escalades -- more expensively and with more pollution.

As for the "invasive and hard to kill" comment ... please PAY ATTENTION. Kudzu was brought over as a beneficial ground cover for orchards. Uh ... how's that working out?

And during the circus barking that is your average campaign speech, please heed the words of H. L. Mencken, "For every problem, there is a solution that is neat, simple, and WRONG."

Yep, ethanol is ludicrously stupid. Corn people + politicans + environmentalists = super stupidity.

Killing people so we can all pretend we're changing the climate and helping the environment.

...and don't forget, in the interim, pi$$ away myriad billions in tax revenue because this country surely doesn't need to improve its infrastructure before subsidizing dr. feelgood's magical fuel tonic...
