EJ started the CC game against Swansea but was subbed out at half time. His work rate was improved, but he can't hold the ball up.

just heard Jones say that Cardiff played very well in the first half, but were rubbish in the 2nd half. Interesting.

Simple enough ... he needs to impress during his time at Cardiff or will be sent back to the MLS. I don't think he wants to end up like Donovan. I can't see him coming back from that.

Donovan was unhappy at Leverkusen. Johnson just isn't starting well.

I would think that Cardiff will be more patient than most people; why so many in sport assume that a few games is enough of a sample to judge a player and assume what his career will be? The reports are getting better, it seems; I'm sure he'll break through eventually.

Well if you really want to see what they think of Johnson (after the Swansea match) then here it is. Hope he comes back and does something for us:

'I'm convinced that there is a story behind his signing,it all seems a bit of a con to me,is he someones relative or something? He's obviously a fraud.'

'He is George Weah's Grandmother. On the non footballing side of the family.'

'One thing's clear though, the sands almost run out of his egg-timer already.'

'Send him back. He is either crap or has a serious attitude problem or both. '

'Feckin crap player with no balls whatsoever...............how the feck did we sign this tosser??'

    'Worse than Andy Campbell.'

'Could Johnson be the first player this season to be verbally abused at NP by a large contingent of home fans, or will Jones protect him'

'well watchin eddie johnson last night was like watching bambi on ice'

'cant think of a worse striker to pull on the blue of cardiff.'

'was the fulham manager taking a bung when he signed him, what an earth does he bring to the team?'

'Are we paying any of his wages? If not let's get another loanee in and stick Eddie in the reserves'

'Do you fancy a lift back to Fulham, I will gladly drive you back.Got to be our worst signing ever, hope he looks at his pay packet with guilt.'

    'Bambi on ice'...ouch

What's the old saying..'you only get one chance to make a first impression'. English football fans (or in this case Welsh) can tolerate average performances as long as the effort is perceived to be all out.

Some guys shut the outside world out and worry only about what they can control. Some guys actually feed off the criticism and take the attitude of 'I'll make all the naysayers eat their words'. Some guys need to be pampered and told how great they are, and are extremely sensitive to any negativity. EJ seems to be in a crisis of confidence, alone in Cardiff w/no fellow Americans to lean on. To finally get a run out and having to be subbed at halftime speaks volumes as to where his head is at (cause it obviously isn't on football).

The bottomline is he has 3 months to FIGHT and salvage his career in Europe or come home with his tail between his legs. Sorry EJ, but those are your 2 options. Sadly, I know where my money is on.

From the same line, "...hapless, but so willing and eager you can't help liking him."

Beats hapless, unwilling and not eager. Looks like there may be hope for young Eddie afterall. Good on him.
