    Gah.

Donovan, stay in Everton blue. Show me that what I thought about you before was wrong.

    'fog.

MLS had another 2 years of options on this old contract. They would not let him go out on loan unless he signed the new contract. So, he had 2 choices:
    1. Stay on his old contract, making less money, AND having less exposure, depending purely on his world cup form to get a transfer offer (and even then, some players play well in the WC and don't cut it in Europe and, considering his prior failures, his opportunities weren't looking great).
    2. Accept the new deal and hope he could impress enough on his loan that a club would be willing to pay MLS what MLS would ask for him.

All reasons why the MLS and their business model suck.

evidently, if there's a "work stoppage" -- great timing during a WC year there MLS!!!!! -- Donovan will stay at Everton.

If you're trying to reset your schedule to coincide with most of the leagues around the world, it is good timing. No clue if that's something MLS is even looking at, but the WC would be the distraction to fill the months until you relaunch.

Donovan popped one in today for Everton. Love this quote by Moyes:

"The first thing the kit man said (to Landon Donovan) was 'that doesn't make up for the one you missed at Tottenham last week'.

And a pretty nice assist too.

He'd better stay. Yeah, I know he won't.

"Stupid" and "idiotic" only start to describe him not staying at Everton. Still think we're not quite to "excelling", but definitely reached "achieving".

There's a rumor in the Daily Mail (yeah, I know...) that if Chelsea can't resign Joe Cole and lose him, that Ancilotti is looking to pick up Donovan to replace him.

As a Fulham supporter, that sucks.

As a USMNT team supporter, getting Donovan a chance to play deep Champions League would be awesome.

As an American, I acknowledge that he'll get more exposure at Chelsea, who have a large American following.

    Still, it would suck :)

And the rumor's now in the Guardian. As a rumor. But Donovan gets his picture in.
For you who dont want to trace this, it started in London 'People' as an adjunct to Cole to ManUre rumor.

Here's a Guardian 'game-blog' of the Hull match. Altidore mentioned.

Landon played well and helped Everton win some league games but saw them drop out of the FA Cup and Europa League.

He even had Ives following him in England.

So could someone explain, ultimately, what the point of all this was?

    Timmy.

Landon is a better player than he was before he went to Everton.

Landon is a more marketable player than he was before he went to Everton.

    What more need there be?

and, also timmyg, while Everton were bombing out of the FA Cup and Europa League, they were also seriously hot in the league and went from the relegation zone to the verge of Europe during his tenure.
