Copa America Coming to the US!

    ah yes. More and more it is looking like we need to switch the MLS calendar to one more like the European leagues.

    Is moving to a European calendar something we can realistically do? One, we'd be up against College football and NFL. Plus, the weather can be brutal too many times throughout the winter. Maybe a Bundesliga model of a 6 week break would make it bearable. It would also have the added benefit of not competing with College Bowl season, or the NFL playoffs. Nothing is going to compete with the Superbowl, so have mid-week games that week?

    Yeah I think you would have to take a break in January and february, and in December and March avoid the northern locations by having those be their bye-weeks and playing away games against the southern teams. With the addition of Atlanta, Orlando, Beckham's Miami there should be enough teams that could reliably host matches during those months. Plus, all the MLS teams in the north currently have preseason training locations in the south. Why not have one or two regular season games down there and expand your fan base.
