For me this was the equivalent of a Cowboys-Pats Super Bowl, can't stand either team, but still had to watch.

Hard to feel for Terry since he looked like he spit on the Geico-Man (good one Terri) in extra time. On top of that what would have been the alternative? (Chelsea winning and them and their fans celebrating? the agony of defeat was better). Then again seeing Ronaldo 'the actress' flop around and faux cry after his boys baled him out was hard to take. The one person I did kind of felt bad for was The Undertaker (Avram Grant). Watching him stagger down the stairs w/the runner's up medal mangled on the outside of his lapel and then seeing him interviewed was brutal.

Grant has been trying to improve his public speaking style. He's been listening to tapes of Howard Dean, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and the chick in the London tubes who spends all day saying "mind the gap."

In that picture maybe, but I think he looks more like some kind of a floppy-eared dog in general.

While we're playing the face game, does anyone else think Ryan Giggs looks like Dominik Hasek?

    AVRAM GRANT SACKED!

    WHOA!!!
    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... 21&cc=5901

    Goodbye, Grant!

    -T

PS I always thought he looked like the Mayor of Halloweentown (Nightmare Before Christmas). I can't find an appropriate pic to make the comparison, so just go with it...

High price to pay for 2nd place for two major pieces of hardware.

I thought he was going to be moved behind the scenes anyway though.

    AVRAM GRANT SACKED!

    Here's a BBC link:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/footbal ... 418774.stm

    Contrast in life in SW6:

    a. Fulham survive relegation by one point and we all want to elect Hodgson pope.
    2. Chelsea lose only two league matches since September, reach the League Cup Final, the European Champions League Final [which they lost because a guy slipped taking what would have been the winning penalty], and are in the race for 1st in the EPL until the last day of the season, and they sack their guy.

Man, there is no parallel universe possible where I would support those assholes in blue. Here's to being supporters of the class side in SW6 :3d footy:

The best option that will never happen would be Hugo Sanchez.

No, Bruce has had some actual success. Such as owning the hell out of Hugo Sanchez.

Guus Hiddink is almost the equivalent of God in S. Korean soccer after the 2002 World Cup. He's got a stadium (http://www.fussballtempel.net/afc/ROK/Gwangju.html) named for him near where my father is from. Seats 44,000+....

I hope he doesn't become manager of Chelski because I simply cannot cheer for that team but I can't cheer against him either.

(I guess the Aussies and the Russians like him some too....)

Yes, and on the other hand look what another certain someone did for Northern Ireland. Do you see why I wanted Hiddink to take the job?

but Hiddink is no dummy. He knows what he's good at and where disaster awaits. Hiddink refuses consideration
