Hmm... if I were humiliated in the NFL draft tv coverage, I think I would have structured my contract so I looked humble yet confident.

Let the details reflect where I was actually drafted and put in clauses where if I really came in and performed, I'd get the really big bucks.

But NO... I was the starter on that powerhouse Notre Dame and they have their OWN tv contract, ya know!

And I'm sure I'm impressing the Browns FO and players with my confidence as in holding out and missing practices...

"I dont need no steenking preseason!"

What a tool. I thought draft day would have humbled him a bit. I guess not.

I'm certainly not a Browns or Notre Dame fan (only seen the Sportscenter report), but he claims that he isn't looking for a signing bonus anymore than the 22nd pick last year plus the standard bump. The contract he wants is all incentive laiden where if he does perform he gets paid like a starting QB, not Charlie Frye.

In that league where any play can be your last, and veteran players get tossed on the scrap heap, I can't blame the kid. As far as practice goes, it hurts a QB more than any position, but he wasn't going to start a game until mid-season anyway when the Browns are their usual 2-6/3-5 and last place in their brutal division.

I agree 100%, SoCalJoe. Not only can any play be your last, but besides the signing bonus, the contracts are non-guaranteed...

He just signed, no details on the figures.

edit: 2.25 mill guaranteed, signed for 5 years, could be worth up to 30 mill IF he meets ALL the incentives (not just being the starter). Even if he ends up being decent (I have serious doubts), the Browns will have the best of the deal.

Hardly a tool, in fact he's sending a message that he's all about the team.

The NFL needs a cap on rookie salaries like the NBA, then you have no hold outs.
