Bolton Blues

Taken from Daily Mail today, look slike we aren't the only team with pre-season blues:

Bolton continued their inconsistent pre-season form last night by losing 2-1 at Gigg Lane to Coca-Cola League Two side Bury.
Tom Kennedy scored an early penalty for the Shakers and Jake Speight scored the winner late on after Lesley Thompson had levelled for the Trotters.

Sam Allardyce fielded a strong line-up, with skipper Jay-Jay Okocha playing as well as Greece international Stelios Giannakopoulos.

El-Hadji Diouf also featured, with the striker learning earlier in the day he is set to stand trial following an alleged spitting incident against Middlesbrough.

The visitors were behind after 10 minutes when Radhi Jaidi was judged to have handled in the penalty area, and Kennedy beat Ian Walker with the spot-kick.

Home goalkeeper Neil Edwards produced a string of fine saves but could do nothing to keep out Thompson's free-kick with 23 minutes left on the clock.

Thompson, a young academy player who was looking to impress Allardyce, had a chance to grab the lead but Edwards saved well again.

Bolton were punished 10 minutes from full-time when Speight's header went in at the near post after a cross from the left flank.

 

Well, at least Bolton won the EPL Far East tourney a few weeks ago. I just hope we can get a win under our belts against Panionios this Saturday at the Cottage. We could use a bit of a confidence boost before the season starts.
