This seems to be the most updated story about Benny's possible move. It looks like he may be headed back to the US to play in the MLS. I really hope it is a temp move if it happens.

Benny looked pretty good in the last couple of outings I saw. Nice touches and some aggression. Problem is, Derby has signed THREE mids so far in the transfer window, and both he and Lewis are pretty much unnecessary.

I'd be surprised if he went to MLS, though, because he's got some European cache going for him. I think he could latch on to another English side, or maybe Scotland or Germany. We'll see.

I know we've been talking about the boy on the Bradley thread, but he has his own.

Anyhow, like Dracula, he's risen from the grave. With the score 1-3 to the Arsenal, County have sent Our Benny onto the pitch at the 60th minute. Let's see if he has a bit more hunger for the ball and a little less attitude [as elucidated by Bradley pere ...

... the boy had a shot in the 73rd.

Well, I didn't watch this "thrilling close match," but ESPNs match tracker counted up two fouls and one shot on goal for Feilhaber in 30 minutes. During that 30 minutes, Derby scored one goal and gave up 3 more. Final score Derby 2 Arsenal 6. Hope our boy acquitted himself well.

Thought it was most interesting when the paper talk was that he was heading for Israel. Is he becoming the Prodigal Son?

At least it is a positive progression from not being on the match day roster, to the bench and then some playing time.

took some time last night to have a look at some Derby message boards. They seem puzzled about the lack of playing time and Jewell's apparent willingness to give him away. Most everyone had positive things to say about his game and his promise.

LEWIS, on the other hand, they seem to really despise.

It seemed like the fans liked him. I remember seeing comments on the 606 that were positive. Don, where do you go for Derby message boards?

I think it has to be killing Benny to sit behind Savage. It is killing me. I was hoping that his game against Arsenal will make some people notice that he has a nice and tidy style that another team may potentially desire.

Eric, this is the board I spent time reading. Not sure if this is the only one, but their official site doesn't have one, so ...

    http://www.derbycounty-mad.co.uk/

I just clicked on Messageboard and searched for all threads that had "Feilhaber" there.

    Cheers

Thanks Don. I think I have seen that site before, but I never really looked at the message boards

Nowak made Feilhaber the veteran player on the U-23 roster for the Toulon tourney next week (games on FSC). I hope he has a nice tourney and plays in the middle with Bradley for the Olympics.

We have a tough draw for the Olympics - Japan (almost a home game for them), Holland and Nigeria.

Whew, I was mentally preparing myself for someone bumping this article to suggest that we acquire him from Derby.

I was going to snap. Please, no one do that. Just don't.

I did see on the news that Derby's chairman has said that only about a half-dozen members of the Derby squad that ended the season will be there when they start 2008-2009. He said that the squad is appropriate for a mid-table CCC team, and THAT IT WAS WHEN THEY WERE PROMOTED.

Gee. Wouldn't it have made some sense to build a better squad when they'd been promoted rather than relegated?

Anyhow, If they are keeping only about a half-dozen, I think it's fair to say that both Bennie and Eddie are gone. Lewis's transfer made no sense. They sign an aging left-winger from a League 1 side and then play him at left back?

Why do so many like Benny so much? Is it the Brasilian factor, the Gold Cup goal?

I like him b/c I think he's a great talent. He can pass and control the ball. But even now I think Bradley has surpassed him in this category, in addition to defensive mid, as well, b/c he hasn't featured. Last year I would've told you that Benny is a better offensive player than Bradley, but no longer...

When I saw him play against China (ok, so it was China) last summer he was all over the pitch, breaking up plays, stringing together passes...then the goalazo against El Tri later that same summer. I thought he looked OK when I saw him feature for Derby...my only thoughts are the dude must be a huge prima donna or grade "A" @sshole to not get playing time.

Seriously, I hope Jewelio, or another club, can use him next year b/c a year of Championship footie will do him, and his purported bad attitude, a great deal of good. He's too young and too talented to give up on yet.

He is better "on the ball" than almost all of the U.S. players. Obviously he needs work, but that's a good starting point.

and now Benny is slip-sliding away down the European charts.

    http://www.yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mod ... nt&id=3987

I mean the worst side in the history of the EPL is bad enough, but to go from the EPL to Denmark is moving in the wrong direction. What next? The MISL?

Oh Benny, how dost thou lie so low!

Playing regularly for a bad team is better than sitting on the bench for a slightly better, but still bad, team.
