He looked really, really good today and Villareal won 1-0. Smart touches, pace, passing, holding up the ball and simply a force on the ball showed there is something special developing. Keeper made a nice save on his shot from just outside the box as well. After today's performance he's earned additional pt.

It was great to hear the announcers: "Senna, over to Pires, on to Altidore... "

Glad you got to see it, Nev; I was just pleased to see that he played the final 45 minutes. Even if their usual strikers regain their fitness and form, Jozy obviously made an impact.

Can't hurt for him to be playing with Robert Pires either!

Bummed out Jozy's not eligible for Champions League duty. W/Villareal's injury issues the kid probably would have at least found his way on the bench at Old Trafford today.

the club has to name a squad in August or early September. I'm assumng that Altidore's name wasn't placed on it. Hope he's not crying like Hyppia is.

Villareal was on GolTV today...Altidore wasn't even on the bench :-(

Still, thrilling 4-4 tie with Atletico Madrid, so I may still watch the DVR.

Altidore scored his first goal today as a late game sub in Villareal's 4-1 win.

I can just see Dempsey making that pin-point pass from CMF.

    The kid is something else!

Does anyone know a place to buy a Altidore/Villareal jersey?

I found one place, Jersey99.com, but it is based out of Thailand and looked super fake/sketchy.

I also found this place, but don't know how legit it is, but it looks better than the Jersey99 place.

    http://www.soccer-spain.com/ssshop/shopwindow.html

Villareal's site is not very helpful either.

I've ordered from that site before. It is legit and is (as far as I could find) the only place you can place an online order for Liga BBVA clubs or Spanish regional (Catalunya, Euskadi, Galicia) "national" teams.

Edit: Just watched that video - did Jozy really score that goal like 15 seconds after he got on the field?

For those that might care. I went ahead and took a shot with this soccer-spain site and it appears to be the real deal. I ordered the thing late Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and UPS was sitting on my doorstop when I got home from work tonight.

    How's the quality Lax?

Good to watch that goal, but only one problem...I've been seeing that this was the first goal by an American in La Liga, last I looked Jozy's teammate Guiseppe Rossi is a Jersey boy (crushing loss for the USMNT that he choose the Azzurri).

Not too veer too off-topic, but another thread got me thinking...what if Rossi, Ibisevic, and Brede Hangeland all chose to play for the USMNT? We might actually be good!

It seems to be good. I have never seen a Puma kit in person, only have experience with Nike and Umbro, but it seems like decent material.

When I first got it, I was semi-worried since the collar/neck and shoulder seams seemed different than what I saw from pictures of this year's team.

But then I found two different pictures of guys from the team wearing the same shoulder seam/collar design, so maybe it was last year's design, but they printed Altidore on them for this year?

But the patches and logo and everything else seems to match up. I am happy with it and how fast it was shipped.
