Thanks for the post Nevzter. Glad to see it's Spain and a loan is in place for him to get playing time immediately next season. I guess it will be down to his willingness to adapt to a new culture, new league, and how bad he wants to maximize his potential. I know we're all pulling for the kid to be world-class striker, so let the journey begin.

That is a great move for Josy! I hope he is able to take his game to the next level while in Spain.

Oms; on the link Nevzter put up there is an assumption he'll be loaned out to Recreativo Heulva (not sure how Spanish ownership works, so maybe the clubs are connected somehow)

Maybe when he's over at Villarreal (hopefully getting time in 09-10) he can convince Rossi to play for the US?
Seriously though, this should be a great move for him and the USMNT.

I whole-heartedly mean it when I say, "screw Rossi!". I would not want him even if he were interested now.

Amen. Rossi made his choice. He's welcome on our shores, he's welcome anywhere in the country. Just not on the USMNT. On that account he can get lost.

but Reyna didn't go to Sunderland from the MLS. He went to Sunderland from Rangers. I'm guessing this has to be the biggest bundle ever paid for an MLS player.

Don. This is not only the biggest for the MLS, but the biggest for any US Player.

thanks, Andy. So what's the status of this? I haven't heard anything since Wednesday's "the fee has been agreed with; Altidore just needs to settle personal terms."

Let's hope he isnt lost in the shuffle over there.

Where in the world is Danny Szetela.. or Giuseppe Rossi, for that matter?

Ask and yee shall receive. Danny, loaned out and playing in the Spanish wilderness somewhere. Rossi in a touch of irony scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for...Villareal.

    Some good news.

On Villareal's official website, their (English language version of the) announcement of Josy (and bio, etc.) says that he'll be playing in the Olympics this summer.

Lots of the US sports press had wondered if they'd release him...

Danny is actually playing in the Italian wilderness . . Brescia Calcio, to be exact. Serie B side. 9 appearances for them, which was the idea really - gettin that first team football in!
