    I remember when a visiting outfielder accidently clipped a bird with a throw in Toronto and the police wanted to file charges.

    And for those of you bemused by the "Dickie Bird" clock, Mr. Bird was a legend in world cricket -- as an umpire. I couldn't find a Wikipedia entry for him. That's terrible. He was something special.

    If he's 5'10", I'm a Dutchman. I never saw ANYONE dispute any decision he ever made as an umpire. I'm far too young to have ever seen him as a player.
