Bielsa gone and Marsch charged with keeping a Leeds team that can’t stop a nosebleed up. Bradley was given about 10 minutes before Swansea supporters were calling for his head, I’m guessing 95% of fhe Leeds fan base think they know more footy then some stupid yank so have very little optimism this goes well.

 

I don’t know if Marsch can keep Leeds up but the squad he is inheriting will match his style of play better than those he inherited at Leipzig.

 

From what I've seen of Leeds, their defending, never a Bielsa staple, is just not good enough this season. They can't just outscore everybody anymore.

 

Somehow managed to miss Sean Dyche’s sacking after 9 and a half largely glorious years in charge at Burnley. All he did was keep a tiny club in an impossible situation in the biggest league on the planet for almost a decade, minus relegation and immediate promotion in ‘15-‘16. It was seldom pretty, and often ugly, but they defended Turf Moor like alley cats, scratching, clawing and relying heavily on set pieces to earn themselves enough points to stay up every season. Alas, it looks like the jig is up. But what a run!

 

I concur Don. And although it appears most of the scribes and others believe Mike Jackson is the guy in charge, he's actually one of three co-caretaker managers. The others are academy coach Connor King and club captain, defender Ben Mee. Hardly the type of arrangement that gives hope for avoiding the drop. However, the Clarets are currently 18th, two points and four goals ahead of Everton, with two extra games in hand. But, as I write this, they've just gone down 1-nil to Watford at Vicarage Road. The Hornets are four points and 14 goals adrift of the Toffees, six points and 18 goals behind Burnley. It's unlikely Watford will stay up. If I were a betting man, I'd wager Frankie and Everton pass Burnley before the final Sunday on May 22nd, even though the Blues have been mostly shite since Lampard replaced Rafa. Although Everton have Chelsea at home and Arsenal away, they have a decent chance of getting enough points from the other four: Leicester and Watford away, and Brentford and Palace at Goodison Park. If they lose today, Burnley have only four more opportunities to get enough points to hold off Everton: home against Villa, away at Tottenham, away at Villa, then Newcastle back at Turf Moor on Judgement Day. Everton play scum Sunday in Liverpool. In the unlikely event they get three points and Burnley don't come back today, Burnley will slip into the relegation zone. I'm no fan of Everton and Lampard, but Burnley's owners and mangers deserve it for their treatment of Dyche. I can't think of a single gaffer anywhere on the planet that's done more with less for so long. Pid-ee-full.

 

It's a very thorough analysis Jump. You are forgetting Leeds though, especially since after you wrote Burnley came back to beat Watford, Leeds lost to Man City and Everton has just beaten Chelsea. If Everton win their game in hand, they will leapfrog both Burnley and Leeds and drop Leeds into the relegated three. Leeds remaining four matches are away to Arsenal, home to Chelsea and Brighton, and then away to Brentford. Based on current standings, I'm afraid that another American manager looks unlikely to pull off the improbable and may find his name on this list before the start of next season.
