This sport can be cruel in a way most sports can't. Just because you dominate doesn't mean you get the result.

Louisville's out, beaten by Maryland in College Park. The good news.....almost all of our team are underclassmen! So, not only should we be back in contention next season, but the school is in the planning stages of building a new, stand alone, soccer only stadium. The future is bright. For now, congrats to coach Ken Lolla and side. As Ah-nold sez, "we'll be back."

Condolences to Louisville but there is no shame in losing to Maryland, a fantastic team from what I saw the one time I watched them on TV. It's going to be Maryland, NC or Creighton.

Highly entertaining game between Maryland and Georgetown. I was sure Georgetown was doomed when Maryland came back from 2 goals down, so well done to Georgetown for holding on and then winning in PKs.

Totally agree. Usually the come from behind team has the edge in PKs. All of my picks are out. I think I will be pulling for Georgetown in the final - share the riches, Indiana has too many cups already.

Indiana get it done again for their 8th National Title. Must not of been a vintage Hoosier team since they were a 16th seed  , basically they were one of the last teams in, but got hot at the right time.

Congrats to the Hoosiers and their fans. Eight stars on that kit next season...damn, that's a LOT! Didn't realize they'd won that many. I thought they piled up a lot of swimming titles under Doc Counsilman, but the futbol cream and crimson have quite a legacy. Hope they come to Lousiville next season.

The Hoosiers have quite the soccer history. IU notched six of their eight titles under Jerry Yeagley who is widely considered one of the most successful collegiate soccer coaches to have graced the sidelines. Yeagley tallied well over 500 victories before retiring in 2003. IU won the national title in Yeagley's final season and in the year following his retirement. In 2010 Tood Yeagley, Jerry's son, was promoted from assistant to head coach when Mike Freitag's contract was not renewed after successive 4th place finishes in the Big 10 and a dip in IU's record to 12-10-1.

With Todd's first title victory this year IU has now captured seven national championships with a Yeagley at the helm and since Todd was an assistant during the title run in the year after his father's retirement IU has never won a title without a Yeagley on the staff.

As a side note, I wonder if there are any only father son combos to hold NCAA title as head coaches?

Glad things are moving along. This will be so good for their program. I was at the University of Notre Dame a few weeks ago and stopped by their new (relatively) soccer stadium. It was really nice, much nicer than what Akron has, but then again it is Notre Dame.
