I wasnt going to say anything but since Joe and Nevzter brought it up, here we go. This is what Jurgen said recently regarding Jozy in an ESPN Q&A.

Typical Klinsmann, takes absolutely no responsibility and blames it completely on Jozy and other circumstances. "You have to create [chances] yourself . . . You have to work, work work and force your luck and sooner or later you'll get rewarded for that". Well what the hell is a coach even for if it is always up to the players. Work and force it? Are you serious. That's all there is to it? What about the fact that while Jozy has never been prolific, he does usually score more than zero goals/yr and he is clearly a better player now than he was one or two years ago. What about the fact that the entire US team has scored around 50% fewer goals than under the previous coach. What about the fact that der Kaiser often employs three defensive mids at one time?

All valid points Mo, but I agree with what Klinsmann said about Jozy. We've seen plenty of players come out of that league with inflated numbers and it hasn't translated to success in too many other places.

Can Eredivisie play be more open, yes. Can players produce goal scoring seasons that they cant duplicate in better leagues, yes. However, the leading scorers in Eredivisie, which is what Jozy is, in general go on to have very successful and productive International careers. Suarez, Huntelaar, Kuyt, Van Nistlerooy, even Bryan Ruiz all produce for their national sides. Jozy used to produce for the USA but hasnt under Klinsmann. Ives just did a story on it. The only USA player to have more goals than Jozy prior to the age of 23 is Landon Donovan, and this is true even though he has only scored 1 goal in the last 13 months. We can see with our own eyes in the highlights of Jozy's goals that he has become a better player in the last year and half, yet his production for the US has plummeted. Other coaches would acknowledge some responsibility for needing to address this, not Klinsmann, he just says Jozy isnt working hard enough.

There is also the fact the Klinsmann said he would have the US play a more attacking style where we dictate the play. If he actually was capable of implementing what he said, the play would be more open and Jozy would be getting more chances. I

Michael Bradley scored this weekend (I linked highlights to his goal in the Bradley thread).

Terrence Boyd and Herculez Gomez also scored this weekend.

And Brad Friedel's 310-start streak in Premier League play came to an end as he was on the bench this weekend.

Jozy and a teammate were ejected within a minute of each other. Naturally, his side lost.

Sounds as if Jozy's red was for two yellows for dissent. "sarcastic clapping" - are you kidding me?

    From MLSsoccer.com
Also, Clint had the assist in Spurs insurance goal.

Josh Gatt drew a penalty kick which resulted in a goal in Molde's 3-2 win.

Cameron had a strong outing for Stoke and Edu saw 10 min of action in his premier league debut.

Gooch update on YA. A little unlucky that someone he had run ins with took over at Sporting Lisbon, and barring injury he sounds like he's just cover for an excellent Malaga side, and will probably only play in domestic cups.

Michael Partkhurst's impronounceable and unspellible [word?] team drew 1-1 with mighty Juve in the Champions League today. Our boy blocked the shot that would have made the result 1-2.

Eric Lichaj with the game winning assist in the last minutes of Villas Carling Cup victory over Swindon Towne, playing at left back. Gee Jurgen the US has always needed good LBs. It should would be nice to have Johnson and Lichaj fighting it out for the starting spot in your camp prior to the friendly with Russia.

Here are the highlights of Villa's win -> http://www.socceroverthere.com/?p=10589

And Mo, I bet it is out of habit, but the Carling Cup a.k.a League Cup has a new sponsor this year. It is now the Capital One Cup.

Speaking of a Lichaj call up, have to include my cousin Zak Whitbread, who is back healthy and starting for Leicester. YA article on a few names to look out for (not happy to see that Gatt has been injury prone), and most intriguing is the young CB John Anthony Brooks of Hertha Berlin. A really good sign of talent is that Germany has been inviting him to to the U20 camps, but he has preferred playing for the US...DON"T SCREW THIS UP ala Subotic.

Jozy scored two goals today in Alkmaar's 4-1 win over Sneek, I think it was a Dutch cup game but not sure.

Clint had what turned out to be the game winner against Southampton last w/e. He's on pace for about 8-9 goals and that's assuming he keeps his current pace. He's more likely to increase his tally as he integrates into the side.

Hopefully he gets that chance and AVB doesn't pull the plug early trying to figure his side out. Tottenham are an enigma. Their speed and quality should translate to results, yet they seem to be their own worst enemies. They're a bit selfish at times, a bit reckless at times and it just seems to come undone on them. Hopefully they can get it together and Dempsey thrives there.

I can't believe I watched the entire Spuds match. That was the worst display by a home team that I've seen since we surrendered to a crap Newcastle side in Sanchez's last match. Matt is right. They are selfish. Dempsey will get some of the blame for today's performance, but he's not even close to being the worst on the pitch today.

It's been inconceivable to imagine anyone but Tim Howard in goal for the USMNT for years now. However, Brad Guzan has been single handily keeping Aston Villa out of the drop zone. Villians went up to Sunderland and found a way to win a 1-0 match. Always like to go to the player ratings on Sky Sports and love to see the 2 word description of Guzan's match; 'Towering performance'

Jozy scores again to help AZ draw with Den Haag 2-2 :banana-dance:

Watched around 30 min of Gooch's first La Liga start against Real Sociopath. Wasnt particularly impressive, at least not in terms of him making a comeback for the USA.

Just found video of Jozy's goal. Wow!
