Yes, it is the Consolation Cup, but I get goofy for these Regional, especially Euro, competitions. And you may find a club or two to show some luke-warm support for (like say, Rennes??):

    Second qualifying round
    Borac - Lokomotiv Sofia 14/08 » 26/08 »
    Queen of the South - Nordsjælland 14/08 » 26/08 »
    AA Gent - Kalmar 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Man. City - Midtjylland 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Honka - Viking 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Haka - Brøndby 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Stabæk - Rennes 14/08 » 28/08 »
    København - Lillestrøm 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Elfsborg - St Patrick's 14/08 » 28/08 »
    FH - Aston Villa 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Široki Brijeg - Beşiktaş 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Braga - Zrinjski 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Vojvodina - H. Tel-Aviv 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Aris - Slaven 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Litex - Kiryat Shmona FC 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Deportivo - Hajduk 14/08 » 28/08 »
    APOEL - Crvena Zvezda 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Vllaznia - Napoli 14/08 » 28/08 »
    M. Netanya - Cherno More 14/08 » 28/08 »
    AEK - Omonia 14/08 » 28/08 »
    Liepajas Metalurgs - Vaslui 14/08 » 28/08 »

First of all, where's MyPa? They were my pet team this time last season. Loved that name.

Well, of what you've listed, you'd have to root for Honka, since they'd probably be the Whites.

I've been in lust with Sonia for more than 30 years now, so I have to root for Braga as well.

I'll root for Hajduk also. It's easy to picture them as 11 scraggly haired surfers haring all over the pitch outrunning guys half their age. 8)

Not sure about Haka -- the Fighting Loogies? -- or Stuttgart [although I might support them to honor FUSA's own senator] :D

And, of course, I'll be cheering hard for Rennes.
Boca Goes to Europe!

Boca about to be 3 matches deep into Europe in one minute (fire up the MyP2P), and the Premiership season has not even started.

May not have been a bad move at all by Charlie Blackmouth.

    whoopsie!

Man City 0 Typographical error 1 [serious embarassment up nawth]
Villa won 4-1 with Friedel in goal. I looked at the match report and was stunned at the overall strength of their match day squad. They're going to be a force to be reckoned with this year.

Rennes was also shocked by the Norwegian league leaders 2-1. Soccernet had no lineups listed, so I don't know if Boca played. Ryan Guy played for his Irish league side, and I don't know how many ScandiYanks played ... we've got so many.

Of "my sides" Honka [The Whites] drew as did Hajduk [The Fighting Frankies]. Haka [The Loogies] lost. Stuttgart [Our Senator's own] won, as did Braga [I still love you, Sonia].

Don's reports on the UEFA Cup will be better than the UEFA Cup itself.

Keep up the good work, Pard!

Califf helping hold down the back line in a 0-0 score at the half. Looks a bit of the bad ass all tatted up.

    Let's Go, Ulvene (The Wolves)!!

Califf really impressed me in his last USMNT appearance. With him, the Cheesehead, Gooch, and Boca, we're in good shape at CB

Califf own goal. Looks gutted. 1-1 agg. The Danes have outplayed Man Shitty in nearly every way possible.

End to end match that City were lucky to escape from with the win. Hart bailed them out, but I think City are showing the inconsistency that plagued Sven last season. My bet is Hughes can right the ship. He's got the talent and should be able to put some pressure on those at the top half of the table.

Jo featured for the first 70 minutes of the match, but needless to say didn't make much of an impact.

Boca with the winner for Rennes today, 2-1 over FC Twente.

"Romano Denneboom put Twente ahead on 14 minutes before former Everton target Stephane M'Bia equalised and ex-Fulham defender Carlos Bocanegra grabbed the winner for Rennes on 49 minutes."

2-2 draw in the Howard v. Gooch match.

The Everton/Liege match was very entertaining. Gooch is improving, but if he wants to get out of Belgium and be considered a world-class defender, he can't give that much room to a player the caliber of Yakubu (clearly his mark).

    Let's try this again.

Gooch has done himself a power of good with well-played matches against the Merseyside gians this summer. Look for a big money move for him in January.

In other results, the Fighting Whities of FC HONKA are out. (Sonia) Braga have moved on to the next round, Rennes [yeah Boca!] go through on away goals, and Freddy-less Benfica bounce out.
