Mariano Rivera becomes first unanimous HoF’er, beating Ken Griffey Jr 437 out of 440 votes, which begs the question. Did the three No voters for Junior immediately get stripped of their privilege?

I guess Rivera just didn’t piss anybody off. I don’t have a problem with any of the new inductees. All deserving and worthy. I DO still have a problem with Peter Edward Rose not being in. Considering the blackballing of the steroid era sluggers (McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, Palmeiro, et.al.), Pete’s indiscretions pale in comparison. It’s time to pardon the man and put him where he belongs...BEFORE he departs this life (he’s 77, by the way, and so far as I know, in good health).

 

Respectfully disagree that anyone can confirm Rose bet against his teams. It has certainly been proven that he bet on baseball and on his teams to win but I've never seen it reported that he bet against his teams with furnished proof. He was a great player with a bad habit. Stand in whichever line you like regarding Rose getting into the Hall of Fame but I would rather see Rose in before any of the steroid users whose crimes against baseball impacted every game they ever played in juiced. Just for the record I am not a fan of Pete Rose. Personally because of his ties to organized crime I would leave him out of the Hall or put him in twice. Once as a player and once in whatever wing they want to designate as the Hall of Shame.

Kansas City Star
John Dowd, who investigated claims of Rose's gambling in the 1980s, told ESPN in 2007 that Rose did not bet on all Reds games in 1987. He didn't wager when when Mario Soto or Bill Gullickson pitched.
