Newell got Hartlepool promoted and came close to getting Luton into the playoffs last year. When he still had the players -- [Thanks, Tom] -- the Town played attractive, attacking fitba.

I think what you have here is a chairman and a board who want to put the manager in his place. At what cost to Luton? To quote Status Quo:

    "down, down, deeper and down!"

Hope the new manager will give Runstrom a game at the weekend, I'm going up to see him!(because I'm his second biggest fan after you, Lauren!)

    You are?! That's fantastic! =)
I think he may well be recalled tomorrow but Luton have just signed a young Liverpool striker on loan for the rest of the season because Björn's on his way back to Fulham...possibly even before his loan expires at the end of the month. So we shall see!

How is that Rowan Vine guy? Is he any good? Is he still with them, or did they sell him in the transfer window?

I'm on my way to Luton at the moment, just leaving Tonbridge on the A21 and thought i'd help you out omsdogg. They sold him to Brum, if i remember rightly, and he's doing rather well. Good job they sold him though because otherwise Bjorn wouldn't be getting first team games. When i get back i hope i can tell you he is ready for the step up to premiership footy.

Just on my way back from Luton v. Ipswich; guess what? Their temporary manager leaves him on the bench. When he came on though, although not standing out, the rest of the Luton team were so cr@p, that they couldn't find him despite admittedly eccelent off the ball running.

...and Leggy got injured early on as well!
Which stand were you in DeuceFan? I was in the players' enclosure, next to the directors' box, and it was all kicking off!
This has been the case all along: he's been working his socks off but his team-mates are so panicky that they can barely string two passes together so all he's had to live off are long balls (not his style). Plus he was told to play right-midfield when he came on today... Seems like that was his last appearance for Luton =) I'm delighted he'll be back at Fulham soon but I'm sorry for him that this loan spell, despite the encouraging start, hasn't worked out too well.

Lauren and Deucefan -- I read somewhere that a group of Luton fans jeered the club's board the entire match, and a few of them even tried to make their way into the Directors' Box. Did either of you see the events unfold?

I can't see him staying there much longer, the atmosphere around him has turned really sour.

    KRHimself -
Yes I was in the players' enclosure, right next to the directors' box, and a large group of aggressive fans tried to storm it in the second half after Luton went 2-0 down. They had to surround the box with Police and open the back fire escape doors to eject some fans threatening violence. There was an attempted demonstration after the game and I had to be escorted by 2 security officers from the players' enclosure to get inside the main building (where the board room, lounges, dressing rooms etc. are) to wait for Björn. Tomlins (the chairman) had 4 Policemen to escort him from the building and they didn't let any cars in our out of the players' car park (not even the Ipswich team bus!) until Tomlins had left. It was all rather dramatic. Oh and the fire alarm was set off by some rampaging fans and all sorts of people started running around shouting "evacuate!!!" but it was ok in the end.

He's definitely leaving at the end of this month (if not before).

It was rather worrying to see how angry people were, they were just marauding around and threatening everyone. Being in the away stand, as my father is an Ipswich fan, we were targeted by some angry Luton mob, but just wandered off as they swore to themselves!
Lauren, how does Bjorn feel about being on the bench for such an awful team? H is far better than any Luton player, and could just as easily get on the bench at Fulham and maybe play even more mins while Montella was suspended. So does he regret going to Luton?

I couldn't believe how the game was going on in front of our eyes but all the Luton fans seemed to be more interested in turning towards the directors' box rather than watching the match and supporting their team.

Björn is obviously not happy about being on the bench but said perhaps, with the style in which Luton are playing at the moment, he prefers not to play. All the players are in such a state of panic when they receive the ball that they're not even trying to play football anymore. They just try to get rid of the ball as fast as possible because they're so afraid of messing up. Björn hates the constant hoofing, long-ball tactics and though he wants to be on the pitch he's sort of glad he's not in a way, because without any proper service he wouldn't really be able to have an effect on the game. He doesn't regret going to Luton completely, but I think maybe he regrets extending the loan for another month - everything's gone mad this March and he's only played 70 minutes away at Leeds and 10 minutes at home to Ipswich (both dreadful games...)

What a difference a year makes. Back when LTFC still had Newell and the players who disappeared for 9 mil, they played a very attractive style of football. If you can locate highlights of their FA Cup tie with Liverpool last season, you'll see what it used to be like.

Sorry that Bjorn is caught up in this situation. Bring the Swedish angel back to the Cottage. He did all he could to help.

    Runstrom slams Luton

    Coaches are clowns!

Fulham striker Bjorn Runstrum has launched a scathing attack on his Luton teammates.

The on-loan Swede rapped to The Sun: "I wouldn't bet a penny on them staying up. They dug their own grave when they sacked Newell and put me on the bench.

"An iceberg would have a greater chance of making it in Hell than Luton have of staying in the Championship.

"Against Ipswich, we played the same as we have lately - like s**t. I prefer the bench to going out on a pitch where half my team kick the ball as high and far as possible and the other half run away to avoid getting a pass.

"Some of the guys would be good American football kickers. The others should get out of football.

"I hope I don't stay here and be humiliated. For the fans' sake, I still hope for a win. But with these clowns for coaches, I doubt it."

Luton striker Warren Feeney is set to play for Northern Ireland against Sweden next week.

Yet Runstrom said: "He's completely harmless. He's scored one goal in, like, 30 games. And that was when the defenders were out to get their hot dogs!"

He didn't actually say those things. He's pretty angry about it - the false comments were published on a fansite about him on Saturday night and as soon as he found out he called up the webmaster and had them removed, and the website issued an apology.
It's a shame that the British press haven't picked up on this side of the story as Luton fans are obviously irate about what he "said" and it's not fair to tarnish his reputation in such a way.
Although I have to say...I kind of agree with a lot of the stuff he "said" ;)

I really hope he didn't say it!

It'd be incredibly disrespectful, even more so considering he's still on loan there. Shouldn't ever say that kind of stuff about teammates.

    Are you kiddin' Spencer?
If he said this, he's hilarious and it's good to see someone speak their mind and the truth for once, rather than cover it up.

No I'm not kiddin. He's still in the locker room with these guys, he shouldn't be taking pot shots at team mates in the media.

"An iceberg would have a greater chance of making it in Hell than Luton have of staying in the Championship."

These are personal attacks. I don't think you should ever say this kind of stuff about teamates, CURRENT teamates, particularly to the media. Your supposed to go to war with these guys.

The quotes are so ubsurd that I really doubt he said them but regardless Fulham need to look into this. If he did say this stuff I never want him in a Fulham shirt. We simply cannot have individuals who are prone to go backstabing team mates and coaches when the going gets tough.

I think the fact that Bjorn is going out of his way to disassociate himself with the comments is proof that Spencer is right about this.

Imagine reading something in the Sun that isn't accurate! Isn't everything owned and run by Rupert Murdoch fair, balanced, and above reproach?
