Would love to have the Captain back, but not sure Jol would.

If he is willing to accept a role on the bench, then bring him back. However, it sounds like he thinks he's good enough to start and he's not. I am sure a promoted team would love to have him and he would probably succeed there.

He can't leave in my book. I think he'd accept a reduced role - in fact, he already has this year with the substitutions and/or coming off the bench. I want him to stay on and take a position with Fulham after he hangs up the boots, but now with Jol, who knows if that's likely. Remember this:

Until anyone can prove they're even close to being the passer that Murph is, he's essential, despite his age and lost steps. Watching other teams and the way their midfielders pull the strings, I'm really surprised we still don't have one. I thought Davies or Baird might have been good in that role, but Jol doesn't let them see the pitch. Maybe as he continues to knock off the rust, Diarra can do it. But he's no spring chicken either.
