If we're going to get only 3-4 million pounds, unless we have a place to put that money right away (effectively, a "American-style" trade), I'd keep him. If he helps us get into Europe, we can replace him with a better player than we can now.

But do we really count on getting into Europe and subsequentally find a replacement as a result of playing in Europe? I think that is a big gamble.

For a club like Fulham that hardly has much cash to spend anyways, we have to make money on transfer deals like this one. Letting a key player like Malbranque go for free is not in the question. Fulham must either sign him to an extension or sell him.

Fulham are considering a bid for Tottenham winger Wayne Routledge, writes Richard Cawley.

The west Londoners have drawn up a list of potential signings to replace French ace Steed Malbranque, who appears to be closing in on a switch to Liverpool.

Clubcall understands that Routledge is one of the players that Chris Coleman has earmaked as a summer arrival - and that the former Crystal Palace winger could cost just ?2million.

The 21-year-old has made just two starts for Tottenham since last summer's switch from Selhurst Park and is facing a major battle for first-team football after the emergence of Aaron Lennon at White Hart Lane.

Charlton are also believed to be ready to bid for Routledge, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Portsmouth.

Yeah, I liked Routledge when he was playing for Palace two seasons ago in the Premiership. He is quick, has good pace and played well on that right wing. He did seem to be injured and miss games at times, but I am hoping that would not be the case if he comes to Fulham.

    From Monday's BBC gossip column:

Manchester City are ready to challenge Liverpool in the ?3.6m battle for Fulham midfielder Steed Malbranque. (Express)

    Mikey doesn't like it

    From the Guardian:

Fulham are the first club to make a formal bid for want-away striker Emile Heskey of Birmingham. A possible bid of 3m pounds...

I'm not sure I like this a bit...I'd rather have Jason Roberts.

If this is referring to Emile Heskey, Coleman has completely lost it. Heskey is not very good. I have no clue why Coleman wants Heskey anyways. I do not know the stat, but I know he scored less than five goals all last season. Giving up HH and CJ for him would be a big mistake.

    Lua Lua and Taylor

According to both Sky Sports and the BBC, we are after Lomano Lua Lua and Matthew Taylor from Portsmouth.

I rate both guys very, very highly...Lua Lua is the quick forward we need and Taylor is the left sided defensman we need. Now I really hope this is true...COYW's.
