Okay, there's less than a week till the start of the season and I couldn't be more excited.

So come on already....predictions? Lineups? Hopes? Fears?

2008-09 starts now. Let's celebrate with a line of bananas:

I second the bananas. Why am I so nervous for this match?

maybe because none of us has a clue about what our lineup will look like -- including me. But here's my guess

    ---------------- Aussie ---------------------

    Stoor ---- Hangeland --- Hughes --- Alien

    Davies --- Murphy --- Bullard --- Gera

    ----- The Short Alien ------ Z-Bird -----

Bench: Zuberbuhler, Volz, Kallio, Andreassen, Dempsey, Nevland, Davis

    I think we're worth a 1-1 draw.

Through the end of September, we've got Hull (a), Arsenal (h), Man U. (a), Bolton (h), Blackburn (a), and West Ham (h). When the fixture list first came out, it looked dire for us, but Blackburn have lost the head, heart, and soul of their side, and West Ham are unstable. Bolton are crap, and Man U may be without both Ronaldo AND Rooney when we see them.

A month ago, I would have hoped for 2-3-1 from those matches; now I'm thinking 3-2-1. That would be a good start.

    COYW!

Oh, and Setanta-less as I am, I'll be in the chatroom for the "live" match.

I am with Don on the lineup except Pantsil in for Stoor and Stoor on the bench instead of Volz.

The Whites start the season with a 2-0 win on the road!

Fulham 2-1, goals by Zoom and F5 (if he plays, if not, JB). Fulham go up 1-0 early, surrender the equalizer fairly late and win it in the final 10 minutes. On the lineup, I have no clue except that I think Don's is reasonable.

I'll be at Bethany Beach, DE this weekend. I'll find out Friday if the local bar has Setanta. If it does, I'll hold out until 2:15. Otherwise, I'll be in the Official Fulham USA Chat Room.

    Opening Day! Yeah!

I'm calling for a 3-1 win to the Boys in White. Goals to Zamora and Davies, and Nevland grabbing one off the bench.

    My lineup is...

    Aussie

    Stoor, Hughes, Hangeland, Konch

Davies, Andreasen (Most likely Murphy), Bullard, Gera

    AJ, Zamora

Should be a good lineup from top to bottom. I don't see any holes that will be exploited by Hull. It's too bad Deuce will see less playing time this season, but it shows that the quality has picked up in the side at least.

Can't wait... COME ON YOU WHITES!!!

I actually was so pumped. I laid awake in bed last night thinking of a starting 11.

    ------------------Schwartzer

    --- Stoor ---- Hughes ---- Hangeland ---- PK

    -- Davies --- Murphy --- Bully --- Gera

    --------------- F5 ------- Zamora

Zuby, Andreasen, Dempsey, Nevland, and Volzy

I'll say a tough 1-0 victory to the good guys.

    WELCOME BACK GUYS!!!

Because it's Hull Twente's first match in the top division. They will be A-M-P-E-D for this one.

Fulham wins 2-1 in the most difficult fashion because, well, you know, it's Fulham.

Hey Guys: remember that effective this season, there's SEVEN on the bench instead of five.

Oh, and F'burger, you've got the Mad Hungarian in two places!

After Lee Cook's demonstration of his invisibility skill, I found it equally plausible that Gera could replicate himself on the pitch.

2-1 for the guys in white.

    Zamora and Gera netting goals.

I am pretty pumped that the season is starting up. I know this is the preseason homer in me, but I have a good feeling about this year.

0-1 on some late David Healy voodoo magic. Momentum builds after Marlon King misses a penalty.

(I went with Dempsey because I wonder if F5 has blended into the team enough yet. If he has, he probably starts and Dempsey replaces Healy on the bench)

    2-0 Whites (Gera, Davies)

I think this match all depends on Fulham's ability to control the ball and limit Hull's chances. The fans are going to be fired up for their first ever top flight game and we've all seen a crowd's ability to inspire its team. I think the result will be as simple as who nips the first goal. If we score first and take the wind out of their sails we'll win, but if they score first, the fans will go ballistic and it will be hard to swing the momentum. Either way I don't see this one ending in a draw.

........which means it will probably end in a draw. :D
