YAY Nice to see that Maurice Edu got a rare start for Rangers today. He played all 90 and almost turned a 0-1 victory into a 0-2 victory. He fed Steven Davies in front of an open goal, but the ex-Fulham midfielder blew it.

WTF Xerez played yet another 90 minutes without a trace of Jozy Altidore. I could be wrong, but I don't believe he's played a minute or even made the bench on any of the 4 or 5 matches they've played since The Yellow Submarine loaned him out.

YAY Michael Bradley got a goal against league leaders Hertha Berlin -- they lost though, so they're still in last.

WTF Despite the fact that they've lost another striker to injury and that they never looked like scoring, Cardiff didn't use Eddie Johnson today until about 86 minutes or so. Evidently he fired over the top, so we probably won't see him again for a while.

YAY Jemal Johnson continues to be the engine room for MK Dons. The only American to have played at New Wembley actually got through a match without an assist -- a rarity for him.

WTF Frankie Simek, who played 90 last week for Wednesday, didn't get off the bench today.

YAY Steve Cherundolo started and played 90 for Hannover96 today. It was his first full 90 in a very long time.

Odds and ends: Preston Zimmerman is continuing to start and do well in the Austrian Bundesliga. Da Beas is still injured. Zak Whitbread continues to do the biz in Millwall. Sal Zizzo was on the bench for Hannover today but, unlike last weekend, he didn't get on the pitch. It'll be interesting to see if Freddy Adu gets named to Monaco's squad tomorrow.

That's not really true, since the USMNT played a friendly there last year.

I'm not getting the Jozy thing - he was getting more bench and playing time for Villarreal.

I'm having trouble with the Jozy thing too ... it's odd that he isn't even on the bench. I didn't expect him to just walk in there and start, given that Xerez is doing so well in the league, but the idea that he wouldn't even appear to be in the coache's mind at all wasn't something that I saw coming either.

I like the format Don; it's either "Yay" or "WTF" (ignoring the "odds and ends") perfect for a soccer fan.
