Nice. Any chance you would be willing to give lessons to other women on how to be a great Fulham fan?

    First student, my wife.

    Nice post Terri...

I can't say I agree with all of his points, but everyone has their own opinon. He rather cheaply discarded some quality clubs in the prem that would easily warrant support outside the Big Four. Tottenham seems to be an easy pick for most to support. The fact that escapes most casual fans is... Tottenham are just an unsuccessful wanna be top four side. They spend more than Arsenal and until recently more than Liverpool as well. That is just my opinion though.

At least there is another supporter of Fulham out there spreading the good word of all things Fulhamish.

Great blog post there. I think he may have spoken too soon about the Brew Crew though.

Makes me think - I wonder if my recently-budding Anglophilia is also because of all the reading we did in law school about English common law and all that.

good stuff! You can find tremedous down side on every team but none with the amount of positives that Fulham have.

Same here. When I planed my trip to London I also planned on seeing Blackburn play. At the time in 2002-2005 all I could catch on TV were Blackburn games and I liked the way they played, physical etc. They also had brad friedel.....

Then I figured out how expensive tickets can be for EPL games. Blackburn were playing Arsenal at the now defunct Highbury stadium. A ticket scalper offered me a ticket for £250 you know about $500 now..........so I decided that 2 tickets for $100 would be good to see anti-chelsea team play around the corner from our hotel.

The golden lion, bishop park, the cottage, and the great game play. Hooked for life. That guy should add in something about having the most beautiful walk to a stadium in the whole UK.

edit. (Spencer is your avatar from the movie Dreamers? or the bond movie?)

Don't understand that, guys; HatterMom sees no problem watching 22 fit young men cavorting in their underwear for 90 minutes. She likes watching fitba also. :D

I agree with jmh that this person spoke to soon about the Brewers, they are on the fast track to the playoffs this season, not that i care or anything Go Dodgers. Nice post though, especially the wonder of relegation part.

    Re: convincing wives/ girlfriends:
Ha! You guys are funny...while we're at it, my husband needs convincing as well. When we head to the pub to watch a match, he eats breakfast and reads the New York Times while I watch the game! Thankfully, I have another footie chick who joins us on occasion :D !

BTW- This summer, I took a couple of summer school subbing jobs so I could justify buying my Fulham kit...how's that for dedication?

Subbing summer school...lowest ring of Hell

I am a Fulham FC fan because...

I was born and raised in America, played soccer through high school and liked the sport. Two years ago I had moved from Prague to London and lived in a flat near Fulham Broadway. I hated Chelsea, not just because they spend money like the Yankees, but because their fans were so obnoxious. On Saturdays I would tread through the tube station with thousands of drunk, idioitic Chelsea fans... One day, walking home from work, I saw a group of people with black and white scarves moving towards Craven's Cottage. I followed them, bought a ticket in Stevenage Road stands (now Johnny Haynes) and watched the whites tear Newcastle to shreds. I was in love. I bought season tickets in the Riverside Stands and my life has been better ever since. I love the whites more than I love the Broncos! (I was born and raised in Denver Colorado). I look forward to a top 10 finish and a drubbing of the evil the empire scum... COYW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Terri... your dedication seems to be second to none. I can only imagine the hell it must be to subsitute teach during the summer, but well done. That Fulham shirt is fully deserved.

With the upmost respect, your hubby must have a screw loose somewhere... best of luck in converting him.

Thanks for pointing out a 'hole' in the forum categories, Terri.

I said 'Self, why is this in Non-soccer category'? Then I tried to figure where I would have posted it. ... Ooops!

    Thanks, PF (I think... :D )

Jacob- subbing isn't bad (no grading); however, you should go to Fulton County, that way I can call on you to cover my classes!

TeamO'McBrides- I'm giving him one more season to get his head on straight! Sadly, he's a suffering Falcons' fan at the mo'- so his mind is elsewhere.

Wow so many of the reasons I myself chose to follow Fulham but he forgot to list fulhamusa.com as a prime source of Cottager information.

I was attracted to the Whites initially due to Boca and McBride, I'm a Chicago Fire supporter and started watching Fulham matches on FSW, now FSC. Also, Fulham reminds me of the Chicago White Sox. The Chicago Cubs get all the press and love much like Chelsea. I prefer the smaller club who have passionate fans and don't go to the matches because it's the thing to do. They go to the matches because they love their team and would do anything to help them win.
