I saw this write-up yesterday and couldn't quite believe what I saw.

    http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/rep ... .2&cc=5901

Although they lost their goalie [and had no backup on the bench] in the 26th minute, Swansea still held QPR to a 0-0 with an outfield player between the pipes. Okay, this sort of thing has been done before. But pipe these stats.

    Scoring Summary
    Swansea QPR

    Match Stats
    Swansea ............................. QPR
    Shots (on Goal) 13(4) ........... 1(0)
    Fouls 6 ................................. 10
    Corner Kicks 17 ..................... 1
    Offsides 5 .............................. 1
    Time of Possession 51% .......... 49%
    Yellow Cards 0 ......................... 6
    Red Cards 0 ............................ 0
    Saves 0 ....................................4

QPR got ONE shot off and earned ONE corner, while Swansea got THIRTEEN and SEVENTEEN respectively. This despite the fact that each side had the ball about half the game.

    Stunning.

How on God's green pitch can you start a game without a backup goalkeeper?

Steve. Backup keeper gets used, what? 2 games a year. You roll the dice sometimes to have another field option on the bench.

Do they not get seven on the subs bench?

edit: Nevermind I actually looked at the link Don posted and saw they only get five subs.
