Thomas Dooley was pretty damn good and a real leader.

Ernie Stewart had his moments in the sun as well, scorng some pretty key goals.

Regis?? Don't remember him so much.

Played in the french league, Fullback, married to an American girl, was naturalized just in time to qualify for France '98, played [sort of] in the World Cup, stayed in france.

My point is that I thought we had stopped the 1990s practice of looking for any American connection just to get experienced professionals on our international team.

His father is American and he has dual citizenship. Doesn't seem like that much of a stretch...

No (at least, not that I'm aware of), but he was rated the fourth best midfielder in the Bundesliga this year. We're hardly the only country to exploit the eligibility rules to our advantage; England didn't turn their noses up at Owen Hargreaves, there's no reason we should turn our noses up at Jones. I say welcome aboard!

He's a right footed central defensive mid from what I understand. Seeing as that spot has been manned by Pablo and Ricardo Clark recently, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door (to the 2010 WC)!!!!
