USMNT ROSTER vs. BOSNIA and HERZEGOVINA

GOALKEEPERS: Cody Cropper (Southampton), Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton)

DEFENDERS: John Anthony Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Michael Orozco Fiscal (Puebla), Michael Parkhurst (Augsburg), Tim Ream (Bolton Wanderers)

MIDFIELDERS: Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Roma), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Jermaine Jones (Schalke), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Danny Williams (Reading)

FORWARDS: Jozy Altidore (Sunderland), Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders FC), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Bobby Wood (1860 Munich)

No Dempsey, Donovon, Gonzolez, Goodsen, Besler or Beasley to choose from but the midfield is pretty well represented. My best guess on a starting XI:

    Howard
    Parkhurst-Orozco-Cameron-Castillo
    Bedoya/Corona-Bradley-Jones-F. Johnson
    Jozy-EJ

I will be interested to watch the much touted Brooks, especially since he is coming off scoring a goal in his teams opener. I hope he is better than Gonzalez 'cause seeing him play for LA last night does not make me think he is the answer for the US.

Whitbread and Lichaj playing 90 minutes for their clubs and still getting no love from the Kaizer. Also, why no Boyd? No Chandler either - I have to wonder if he's just completely out of the picture.

And Ream? Please someone tell me what he has done. I believe he is still NOT playing for Bolton.

Whitbread can barely take a shower without getting injured. I would like to see him play for a couple months without getting hurt before I would all him in.

And Terrence Boyd is on the roster.

So EJ is the only MLS player on the list. I find that pretty interesting. I am guessing most of these players are fighting for the last few open spots on the WC roster? Although I see a few Euro vets that are definite.

Terrance Boyd is on the list Mo or were you referring to another Boyd? I am scratching my head over Chandler as well except I know he did not play in the opener this weekend. I don't know why though.

Anybody know anything about Cody Cropper? I never saw the name in print until just now. I don't believe he's played a competitive match for Southampton, and I'm also pissed about Lichaj.

Promising goalkeeper who has been on the past two U-20 teams (I believe he was the back-up to MacMath for the 2011 team that failed at qualifying and was the starter for the 2013 team). He has been hit or miss the few times I have seen him play. I have seen him be very beastly sometimes while making some decent sized mistakes in other games.

He played mainly with Southampton's U-21 team last year (I don't think he ever suited up with the first team) while he made some bench appearances with Ipswich Town's first team in 2011-12 before getting hurt then being let go at the end of the season.

Does that mean Brooks will be starting in his first call up? It looks like it to me.

That's fine reasoning Lax, except for guys like Holden who cant stay healthy either. There is obviously some difference in stature of the player but then there is Ream who cant get playing time in the very same league as Whitbread. I double checked on the Boyd inclusion so I dont know what's up with my eyesight :character-oldtimer:

It's on ESPN2. Bosnia-Herz has quite a streak themselves. According to SI they havent lost since Sept. of 2010 - dont know how many games that is though. They have been undefeated in World Cup Qualifying so this should be a tough one, especially without dempsey and Landon

Defense is still a problem for the US. Klinsmann needs to bring in some coaching help for that imo. That was a clear penalty on Mixx so we were robbed in that respect. Jozy is doing well as is Mixx. Bedoya is surprisingly absent. Bradley is not having his best day and Jones is looking awful. I hope he is subbed out for Klejstan because this clearly is not his day. Evans is holding his own at RB but he is gassed. I'm sure it was a tiring trip, but I still just dont see him being the answer at that position. This really was the perfect opportunity to give Lichaj a try or put Cameron over there. Brooks looks promising so far.

Imagine how good Bosnia would be if Ibrahimavic had decided to play for them.

Too late. Lax I'll have you know that while my cousin has sustained injuries while changing a lightbulb, helping an old lady across the street, and once pulled a hammy when flipping a burger he has never picked up a knock while taking a shower.

    2-0 B & H at the half;

EJ w/dreadful opening 10 minutes. For some unknown reason he decided to take about 8 touches from Bedoya's sublime pass instead of shooting it, and then his pathetic turnover caused the first goal.

Mixx needs to hit the weights, but did have the best move in the half that could have been easily called a penalty.

Jozy w/some solid hold-up play, but maybe a little too unselfish instead of having a crack at goal.
