Time to crank it up. Only two-thirds of the job is done and Honduras is no joke. Rio TInto will be rocking and what a difference a couple of weeks make. Shelled by Belgium, question marks a plenty, and confidence shaky, a complete turnaround has occurred. However, the makeshift backline changes again as Beas is out due to yellows. 3 points here and a giant step towards Brazil will be taken COYRW&B!!!!!!!!!

So, does this mean Castillo at LB?

I'd go for either that or FJ at LB, run Eddie up front with Jozy and use Deuce on the left wing. Keep Cameron and Bradley in the central of midfield and Bob's your uncle.

One thing I've noticed, is that Tim Howard is playing his best football in six months now that he's in WC qualifiers. During the season he seemed distracted and indecisive at times, but he is SO in charge back there and his spidey sense is in overdrive. It's sad that Brad Guzan -- who was in MUCH better form for Villa than was Timmy at Everton -- has to sit and watch, but it's hard to argue about Tim's place.

Three more points should just about nail it down. You'd expect USA, CR, & El Tri, to go. For me, it's between Honduras and Jamaica for the 4th -- conditional -- spot. We'll see.

I agree with you about TH Hatter. He's picked it up...a lot. That late save he made on Blackburn was vintage Timmy. The question is, is he still our man for next year in Brazil? As we like to say in the TV business, stay tuned.....

I am beginning to believe that EJ is earning his way to Brazil as a multi positional offensive utility player. I will not be the least bit surprised if FJ is pushed back to left back and EJ slots into the left wing.

Me neither, it's either that or Castillo at LB and FJ staying put.

The way Castillo got burned versus Germany, I think that would be the better option. Although is Parkhurst available?

Honduras will be a different team from the one that beat us to open the Hex. They are missing almost half of that team to do injury, suspension, and Bengston went awol because he was unhappy playing time. Both of their CB's are out so hopefully that will help us get some goals.

Jones has been cleared to play,(beat me to it Nev)

Will anyone else be disappointed if this isn't at least 3-0?

I hope so. I would really like the US to put on a soccer clinic for Honduras, whether that happens...

Anyway here is a fun vid of the field level highlights from Seattle. :banana-guitar:

Rushing home from choir practice to watch this on tape delay, so I won't be in the chatroom. Hope there's a healthy presence in the room though.

As for the result, a clean sheet with more than one goal from the RWB will work for me. :banana-guitar:

Besides the three points however we can get them, I'd really like to see Dempsey get back on the score sheet. Although we've done pretty well since his last tally, eh?

For me special players find ways to dictate matches and tonight Graham Zusi and Clint Dempsey stepped up and dictated the tempo of the second half. Altidore looks like he has figured out working off the ball leads to good things for strikers. I don't think he ever disappeared from the match and while his goal was immense so was his defensive effort.

Whether it is Beasley or someone else, I hope they figure out the left back position as I like Fabian Johnson in the midfield and further up the field.

Credit to Honduras for having a game plan, staying super organized, and frustrating the US for much of the match. When 10 men get behind the ball it can get ugly, but the boys picked up the tempo and got er done :banana-dance:

Fabian Johnson: MOTM for me, and will hope that the German jokes subside (I have been guilty myself). The young man was brought up in tough circumstances, and it's pretty cool his skill has led him back to the side of his family he might never had met otherwise, in other words his is an AMERICAN story. Oh, and the kid as Lax points out needs to be playing the wing.

Jozy: Keep plugging away and you got the feeling after the rightly called offside goal was disallowed that he just needed one more chance.

Zusi: Was much improved than other matches. Gotta appreciate the kid showing the grit to compete for a spot.

Clint, Jermaine, Bradley: All slightly off, but each got better as the match wore on.

Back 4: Both Omar and Besler w/horrific giveaways that thankfully weren't punished, but also w/some key defensive breakups.

The Crowd: Not going to replicate the sound made in Seattle. Paul Allen when building it wanted to make sure the acoustics were the best in any outdoor stadium, hence it's the loudest stadium in the NFL, MLS, or any other sporting event you put in there. Tough match for the fans to keep into, but they represented for sure. WIll say I hate the chant the AO's used on Honduran goal kicks.
