    Now pay attention to who's saying what, here.

    The Hall of Fame at Oneonta NY is closing down due to lack of admissions traffic.
    That's not as surprising as the decision to put it there in the first place. Idea was, I suppose, it's near Cooperstown.

    KC has put in a bid to house all or part in its new stadium. I have a problem with that. If it's going to be in the Middle West, it needs to be in St Louis. I bet we all could agree on that city's credentials.

    Seems to me that KC's only claim is that it was an original club by dint of Lamar Hunt. Well the Hunts don't own KC anymore. And I don't recall reading of all those cattle drovers getting together to play pick up footy after arriving at the railheads.

    If you were going to put it in KC due to Hunt, might as well put it in Dallas area at Pizza Hut Park.. but that doesnt make sense either. You cant even get soccer enthusiasts there for games.
    And putting a Soccer HoF in KC or Dallas would be like ignoring Philly and Memphis and Northern NJ and designating Cleveland for R&R HoF.

    So... If it's not to be in the St Louis tourism area... I hereby, without reading much more than abstracts of the controversy, nominate Philadelphia Union's stadium as the home of the US Soccer Hall of Fame.

    Well, we'd like a new stadium in DC. Maybe if they combined it with the US Soccer HOF to draw more traffic on non-game days, that could help.

    Smell.A. is probably top of my list for alot of reasons. D.C. would be next.

    I'm with 'fog [5th or 6th time this century]. St. Louis is the ancestral home for soccer in the USA, much as Toronto is for Canada.

    I think it would be a great fit here in St. Louis if they put it downtown. We could use another tourist draw. There is a big empty plot of land next to Busch Stadium. Sadly though if we were to get it, I would assume they would put it out by the soccer park in the county.

    We need a new hall of fame since the International bowling hall of fame moved (I think to Dallas). Oddly a few years ago the Cardinals threatened to use eminent domain on the bowling hall of fame to build their "ballpark village," so the bowling hall of fame moved, and that big plot of land which the cardinals now have sits empty and will until we give the cardinals more tax money to build something.

    - Bowling HoF
    I remember that. A travesty as Bowling had a strong association with StL because of Anheiser-Busch sponsorship. I dunno where it is either, I would have guessed Las Vegas.

    The whole point is that the Location of a HoF should have a basis in historical context. That's why the NFL's is in Canton and why MLB's is in Cooperstown. Sorry... DC doesnt qualify. So I guess if not St Louis or Philly, then I would go closer to the great eastern historical soccer hotbeds... Northern New Jersey. Near Red Bull's park to be exact.

    RE: Re: WHY SO LATE?

    Allow me to correct you here, since I don't see the relevant thread to the left.

    I think there are too many places with roughly the same amount of soccer history or relevance, which can lay claim to a Hall of Fame.

    But stretch that as far as you like. No bother.

    Re: RE: Re: WHY SO LATE?

    Here's the quote in the relevant thread amazingly enough in the North American subforum.. Right below this one.
    When I said that St Louis or the NY NJ area had more 'historical tradition and there should be consideration given to it.
    YOU replied:
    It is NOT 'all-evens' historically, and there's no fucking way you can posit that it should be next to DisneyWorld or the Universal movie lot. Or the old Kansas City stockyards.

    How about Bangor Maine? Cheyenne Wyoming.

    Stretch THAT any freakin way you want it.. I made the point in the first post and smart ass potshot and leaves piss me off!

    If you can peel yourself away from the grandstand, please explain to everyone why L.A. should not be considered.

    The fact is that a soccer Hall of Fame in a high traffic area that has a future of attracting and creating many more soccer players makes a hell of alot more sense than putting it in east Egypt. And the fact that soccer in the U.S.A. has suffered so many fits and starts means, yes, a place like L.A., which has had some of the biggest soccer events/players can lay claim to having a significant historical soccer context.

    I know having the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio seems really cool to you, but it doesn't appeal to many, and they will never make it there.

    I guess, NY is our happy medium.

    1st of all the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland because that's where Alan Freed came to prominance.

    2nd of all, I really have nothing to contribute, but I can't stand subject lines that read: re; re; re; re; re; re;

    Well, ye-aaah! That was my point. Of course you knew that, and I guess you're informing the youngers who arent familiar... but...

    I mean I didnt REALLY give a shit about the unique music out'a Sun Records and Beale St in memphis.. or doo wop out of Queens and Philly. Or the R& B out of N'awlins, Nashville and Buffalo.

    What's IMPORTANT is the DJ rebel who later became known as the King of Payola! So... why wasnt THAT HoF in Philly for American Bandstand.
    {That's SaRCASM for the cognitively impaired!!!!}

    I got nothing against Cleveland trying for it, they needed every bit of tourist they can get.
    If it had been Cincy, for our own rebel dj, I'd say the same.

    and this is really pissing me off. Note exactly how well franek reads and comprehends. Yet he expects ME to read his fucking mind with his little driveby's.
