US federation takes a considerable revenue hit and schedules Mexico into Crew Stadium.

Which is a not-so-subtle jibe at their opponent who always schedules the big game into the most daunting venue possible... usually 7500 foot Azteca.

And assures a majority crowd of US fans rather than taking a chance in a bigger venue.. To be sure there will be a large contingent of Tri supporters but nothing like it would be if there were 50,000 seats available and all tickets sold through open sales.

Instead Crew ST holders get first chances and I'm sure other MLS holders do as well. Thus the remainders sold out in twenty minutes. I got my ticket, electing to get the cheapest seats as I play to spend a lot of time roaming the mezzanine. It aint JUST the game it's the 'atmosphere' dontcha know!

Other interesting aspects... Arena not announcing roster until 1 PM today and holding his practices at Ohio State, where security is easier to invoke.

Result? Well... Mexico is really hyped for this match; the last time here, we beat them 2-0, in sub-freezing temps, without McBride and Reyna who both were out of the game by injury at the 25 minute mark.

And there's the 2-0 loss to the US in the finals.
I'm sure El Tri has plans to avenge those losses and make us look bad, in the bargain

So, using my analytical powers, I say it's a toss-up. Using my heart... a 2-1 US victory in the final minutes.

TV - Oh it's on Telemundo OF COURSE, but also on ESPN Classic
    (fitting, huh?): Sat 7:25PM

Is this really because you are trying to take in all the atmosphere or is it because you are wanting to enjoy a number of smoke breaks? Just kidding!

Good move by ESPN Classic to pick up this match live on Saturday night.

MrsJux and I will be there in Section 109, close to the pitch. We'll also be in the South General Admission Lot around 3pm if anyone is coming to town. Let me know.

We will be sporting the new "cocky" new scarf from huntparkinsider (in true Sam's Army style):

I'm glad they were able to FINALLY schedule a live english language broadcast. The original plan was to tape delay it at 11 pm on ESPN or ESPN2.

Pettyfog...will you be wandering into the Sam's Army section during your trips around the mezzanine?

They are taking a page from the FUSA playbook and gathering at O'Shaunessey's the Friday night and will also be there on Saturday after the game.

I'm glad ESPN finally decided to show it live. I will be going nuts trying to watch this and the Georgia Tech-Auburn game at the same time.

Crew is hosting a viewing party after the game (coincidently Crew @ ChivasUSA, 10:00pm eastern) for anyone with a WCQ ticket, .

We can call it (because of their table standings) the NOTUSA v the NOTMexico ;)

Assume the bar will be open.

We should be in the South General Admission Lot after 3 pm. Call my cell (614-595-6279) if you want to share a few beverages before the game.

On a side note, does anyone have "Go Tell the World" by Joy Zipper? It's in that new Nike commercial for American Soccer that's being run on FSC and their website (http://www.nike.com/nikesoccer/justdoit/usnt.html, under the usnt link). I can't get it out of my head and would like to have it for Saturday. It's on UK's iTunes, but not here in the States. Funny, since the band is from New York.

I'll do that. My brother, aka Andy Johnson, was supposed to come but decided not to go yesterday.

I doubt you'll have any problems finding a taker for that ticket. They have been going fast and furious on eBay and other outlets. You'll probably be able to fund most of your trip with it...uhm...not that I recommend that:)

I figured that, but my friend who came to the All-star game just called me and said that he is going to ditch a family party and come to the match!!

Wise choice! I'll have my portable grill if you want to bring meat to throw on it. I'll also have at least one cooler there too.

Tino Palace is one of the better contributors to MLSNet.

And this column is one of his better efforts:
I guess the soccer fans' view of "David james is a tw@" is pretty much universal.
