Alright, notch one for the home team!!

Thankfully, this makes up, at least some, for Tuesday. Now the breakdown.

No McBride. Why? because he has a starting position cinched up and he's probably in good enough shape and needs enough rest, to get some time off.

Boca! ha, ha, you ol' dog. Red card! Guess we won't see you on Sunday. But there is a very good chance, based on tonight's showing, you sir will be a starter.

Bobby Convey. Wow, what can you say. He looks like a natural leader out there. He's like the Steve Nash of this team. Small, but extremely effective in the midfield with an assit on Ching's goal. Watch out for Reading next season.

Ching was decent enough, and easily could have had two goals. He seems to have a nose for the ball in fron of the goal. There is aneed for that, but a starter???

Eddie Johnson had flashes of brilliance in the first half and then fairly dissapeared in the second. Conditioning could be an issue for him and many on this squad.

Onyewu nearly let a potential goal scorer go uinmarked. Very unlike him, but maybe it was the ESPN halftime jinx at work. They did a great clip on him and how he wants to be one of the best in the world. He will be. (Gooch to Fulham? Please!!!)

Clint Dempsey had a strong header, off an Eddie Johnson cross, for the one second half goal. He seems pretty solid in the middle as well.

The rest, well to me, did not have a lot of impact. Of course I could have easily overlooked someone also.

So......my starting line-up if I was coach based on the results so far:

    Forwards: McBride and Eddie Johnson

Midfield: Convey, Dempsey, Reyna, and Beasley

    Defense: Cherundolo, Conrad, Onyewu, Bocanegra

    Keeper: Howard or Hahnemann

Yes Cherundolo made a mistake the other night, but the guy is smart and has heart, not to mention he's got quite a bit of European experience. Sorry, no Keller for me thank you. The young guys get the nod in goal.

Interested to hear others takes and line-ups. Fire a way!

RE: Re: U.S. World Cup Line-up

Thank you Sir. There are a couple of spots that could be switched, like Pope for Conrad (or Boca) or Wolff for Johnson if he gets sloppy, but these three games are starting to bring the cream to the top.

Yeah, who would have thought McBride as D-back's inspiration. We are reaching perhaps, but maybe that was an oh-so subtle reference to the future..........

It's certainly my hope; I've been pitching Onyewu on this site for a few months now. But if he has the WC he's capable of, we may not be able to afford him.
