Back by popular demand...here we go:
    Howard
    Spector Boca Gooch Bornstein
    Donovan Feilhaber Mastroeni Beasley
    Dempsey Ching

I still want to see DeMerit get in with Hejduk out, but probably unlikely.

Predicted score: 3-2. Goals will be flowing like the Anejo!

I don't mind Bradley being out but I think Hejduk would've been a decent matchup for that pacey left winger Mexico has, whose name eludes me at the moment.

    --------------Howard---------------
    Simek - Gooch - Boca - Bornstein
    --------------Mastro---------------
    Deuce ---- Feilhaber ---- Beasley
    ------ Donovan -- Ching --------

I haven't been tremendously impressed by either Johnson or Twellman and I don't want them starting. Simek could just as easily be Spector, in my mind it's a toss-up (though that's partially just my ignorance).

I like Simek at right back for this one. I'm still not sold on Bornstein whose judgment still doesn't seem solid enough for an international. I'd rather we ran Spector at LB, even if it's not his best side. I think that he and the Beas could control the left wing offensively and defensively. I think that DeMerit has to be the first man off the bench -- let Gooch beat up Borghetti until he gets a yellow and then, just when Jared thinks he's going to have an easier evening, BRING ON THE MAD CHEESEHEAD.

Nev & jmh, your attacking midfielder/forward lines are interchangable. I like Dempsey creating on the right and Donovan in the middle with both a little withdrawn, but they've shown that they can interchange nicely.

I don't think Mexico will be as tough as Canada. I'm liking us to win by two clear goals.

One note: let's hope somebody warns the officials about Mexico's goalie. We're lucky he didn't break Johnson's leg last time we played them. He's a nutter.

Gettin the heck out of MSP tomorrow morning and can't wait to get to the game. I imagine US fans will be out numbered 4 to 1. Its to bad cause %75 of the crowd are going to be rather disappointed after we wipe them off the floor AGAIN. !Dos a Cero putos!

HatterDon knows his footy. He's right about Bornstein. They should go bigger in the back, and Spector should get the nod. Then why will I not be surprised when the the 'stein does?

I still like the 4-4-2 I suggested for the Canada game. The fact that I didn't pick Bradley or Hejduk for it makes it an easy call.

Don seems to be spot on. Spector has experience and the poise to start for the US, Simek is a tank and has earned his spot on the national team (well done frankie), DeMerit in Gooch out...who can complain and Feilhaber looks to boss the midfield.

Chomping at the bit for the match. Won't hear the end of it if we fail to win. So for my sake and oh couple hundred thousand other fans...Take Mexico To The Cleaners!!!

Simek should be on the right to combat Guardado. I have a feeling Spector on the right would get minced. As for the formation, I'll go with the one that gave us the only comprehensive 90 minutes in the tournament.

    Howard
    Simek DeMerit Boca Spector
    Clark Mastroe Feilhaber
    Donovan Beasley
    Dempsey

Will not be surprised if we loose this game. Really, the only thing that has kept us from loosing against mexico in the past few times we've played them is their poor finishing. If that trend stops, we may be screwed.

But, positive thoughts, right? So....4-2 U.S., Mexico goes up early, though!

Mexico hasn't improved their shooting woes in the Gold Cup thus far. Pardo's shot was a quality strike, but most chances went to waste.

Should Blanco and Brogetti really makes us nervous? Not IMO.

For all intents and purposes, it is an away match for the U.S. tomorrow. I like everybody's lineups, solid combinations all around, and the Euro-based players will be the difference tomorrow. Simek is solid and should be given more time in the future, I like his ability to attack from the backline and still I will lobby for DeMerit's inclusion in the starting XI, he's deserving. I predict a goal from Deuce tomorrow, tougher competition will be an inspiration for him.

    A smash of glass and a rumble of boots...and a 3-2 U.S. victory.

Why SA will never get an MLS franchise, example 937:

After losing what became the ChivasUSA franchise by convincing the money men in this town that only Latinos had any interest in fitba, and then only in Mexican fitba, this morning's San Antonio Excuse-Nuisance provides TV listings for the USA-Mexico match on Sunday. Where can it be watched? Telefutura. Any English-language station carrying the match? Not so anyone can tell -- Anglos don't care about soccer!

Luckily, I know that FSC is carrying the tournament; good thing I'm not a visitor or new in town. Sigh.

Best news for me? Kickoff isn't until 2 or so. We have a brunch gig tomorrow, but I should be back in the house for at least the entire second half. I'll drop into the chatroom to see if any more of us fanatics are about.

US v. Mexico is the only thing that gets me as fired up as a Fulham match.

    GET SOME MEXICO!!!!!

I've been to San Antonio recently and it baffles me that the city would turn down the Chivas USA opportunity. I believe that if Chivas USA could prosper anywhere in the US it most assuredly could in SA. The Spurs afterall are pretty much the only draw in town besides minor league hockey and baseball.

Great to see the enthusisasm and hopefully I'll be able to drop by the chat room and catch up for a bit.

He was the man of the match against Canada, no question there. He has a motor that just doesn't seem to stop. I've never really been completely sold on his abilities, but he is winning me over with his work rate. Still not the USMNT's top choice for the RB IMO.

Two yellows will do that to a guy.

He's a long haired, spark plug, and has served his team and country well this tournament. He'll be key in raising the Cup.

See him in Venny?? I have to think mos' def.

Chang's blog remarked that Hejduk had the perfect game to silence his critics:

He played very well, scored the opener, AND made sure he won't be playing in the final!

I agree with HatterDon on the defense. Living only an hour away from Green Bay itself, it gave me a rather prideful surprise to see such eloquent support of Jay DeMerit. The biggest problem though, is goals. We only got one in the World Cup, and we failed to get more than two against the Canadians. Im not so sure about Ching -- EJ has been cleaning house in the MLS, and if the crosses are flying from the mids, Twellman's a-frickin-mazing. It depends on the strategy -- Donovan f'sho, then EJ, with Taylor being the primary sub. We gotta get the team involved in pushing the ball south of the border and attacking!!!

I'm really not sold on Bornstein either. Rather have Spector or Seimk at left back. He had a tough game against Canada IMO and just isnt the answer. Much rather go with the European experiance.

While it's true that Johnson and (I think also) Twellman have been tearing up MLS, it unfortunately hasn't translated in the Gold Cup. Both have had ample opportunity and have each only found the net once. Ching has the same goal tally in much less action. I still think (as I did before the Canada game, in which Eddie Johnson did not score) he deserves a legitimate shot.

Ching deserves a fair shout for a start. Dempsey partnered with Ching would be a fairly affective attacking option. Each player provides something different to the attack. Hopefully the US demolishes Mexico, but I imagine the match will be rather close.

Again, my prediction is the US 2 and Mexico 1.
