Tevez is going to be a bust in England

While it has just been assumed that Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano are going to dominate for West Ham in the Premiership I am not seeing it. Rarely have Argentinians come in and lived up to hype and expectations. In fact, can you name more than one Argentinian that has succeeded in England?

I can name a two players that never lived up to their billing:

    Hernan Crespo
    Juan Sebastien Veron

I think I will eventually be adding Carlos Tevez, aka Carlito, to this list. Having watched him play briefly, in his first match, and looking at his past, I do not think he will make the mark in the Premiership that many are expecting him to make.

I am not so convinced Mascherano will be so great either.

Additionally, I think West Ham could regret these signings as they both may be busts and both might severly mess up the chemistry on a team that was headed upwards. Not to say that West Ham will fall apart at the seams like an Airness kit, but I think these two could negatively affect the team somewhat. Only time will tell.

I could get egg in the face thinking Tevez will not succeed but deep down this is what I think.

Well, two weeks later, and our ChiTom looks like a genius.

    Good analysis, as always.

You have to feel for Alan Pardew. I read somewhere that he is now contractually obligated to play the Argentine pair for a certain amount of matches, though Pardew himself has denied it. Basically, he has to put Carlos and JM in the lineup, at the expense of the players who actually helped them achieve some success last year.

Now with all the talks about the team underachieving, the takeover talks, and even his own job security, Pardew is pretty much trapped in an impossible situation.

A short list of "notable" players who have scored more Premiership goals than Carlos Tevez this season:

    Zat Knight
    Jamie Carragher
    Talal El Karkouri
    Malcolm Christie
    Robert Huth
    Chris Morgan
    Phil Neville
Jimmy Bullard (out since early September)

If I'm not mistaken, Mark Crossley (our on-loan keeper) has scored a goal for Sheffield Wednesday, as well.

Forget two weeks later. Half a season later, and Tom still has a very good hunch in general when it comes to players panning out. Tom, it's a huge reason why your editorials are always well worth the read, and consideration.

Hardest part, not letting it go to your head. Stay trained, stay focused. You the man.
