A new hack allows IE using PC's to be captured.

The malware only operates when it sees IE on certain websites... NOT just dodgy sites but many that are perfectly legit.
Here's the Microsoft page to read but here's Cnet's news on it.

If you've tried Firefox before and didnt like it, then you might want to try Google Chrome. Reviews are generally good. But I hesitate to turn over any more of my PC to 'Big Corp Software' esp considering Google's track record in China.

I am a big fan of Firefox. I switched a while ago because I don't like having any one entity having too much power over an industry, even one run by a man who has done as much good as Bill Gates. Competition is good for all (both Microsoft and the competitors).

Thanks for the heads up. I've got both browsers on mine but usually only use foxfire.

Here's one thing 'fog and I can agree on, at least. Use Firefox.

Look, if Microsoft made an awesome browser that was, in some way, worlds better than everyone else, then I don't think I'd take a principled stand like the one DaveNearDC mentions. But they don't, they make a browser that's full of holes (see: the articles linked above) and captured a huge market share through bundling and consumer acceptance of the fact that IE is "good enough". A lot of people just have never bothered to look into the fact that there are other browsers out there that might be better; maybe this will motivate them.

Ah, don't have to worry about it! Safari is wonderful but Firefox would be my first choice if I was running a windows machine.

Best/simplest example is installation of stealth 'keylogger' spying on what you type at certain sites.

If you do online banking, card transactions etc.

I never type my info or passwords on bank site

I wont 'recommend' software/sites to help you fix these problems but I can recommend you read 'Kim Komando's' web site.

There is NO quick/easy/foolproof resolution. Hackers and thieves put in a lot of effort finding ways of getting around those.

I use both. Firefox for fun and reading and IE for business. I have had nothing but trouble with Firefox in the chatroom, it logs me out. :3d crying:
