The English are absolutely stupid about some things. Mike Ashley, the most recent English guy to buy a team, is already looking to sell the club for a profit.

The Glazers and H/G will be around for awhile I think, contrary to popular (bigoted) belief in England.

Daniel Levy, another Englishman, is also looking to sell... as has been Madjeski at Reading (who no one will ever buy because it isn't going to be in the Prem on a regular basis in the near future... same goes for Fulham probably)

I am not sure that "The English are absolutely stupid about some things" is a fair comment. I don't think it matters who the chairman is, until you have a clear idea of what they want to do with your club, then you panic. Change and the psychology of change are massive. I hated when David Bulstrode (may he rest in hell) when he became chairman of Fulham and I was very worried about MAF intensions towards the club - some days I still worry about MAF's plans, but it has nothing to do with his nationality and all to do with his volatile life.

Man U fans shouldn't worry too much, the sum of the parts of Man U is worth less than the whole so it would not be broken and sold for business reasons. Liverpool fans do not know what the chairmen want to do and how it will affect them and I beleive it has nothing to do with nationaliy of owner (that is the media stiring things up) and all to do with the fear of change.

England - Love tradition - hate change!

Yes it is. Currently it goes without saying in England that Americans only want to buy EPL teams so they can turn a short profit. You hear/read it all over the place. It's exactly why Steve Nash said what he said... it's good PR.

... yet Levy at Tottenham has been setting the team up for a sale the last couple of years and Ashley appears to be wanting to sell (might be bunk though), and Madjeski openly talks about selling to a billionaire if one comes along. Even MAF apparently has floated the idea of selling for 100 million pounds. Everton's board are also wanting to be bought out, as are Birmingham (who almost did sell to a Hong Kong businessman).

It's the English who are selling, not the foreigners.

Nonetheless I think you're right... about the aversion to change, etc.
