Stockholm Info?

Has anyone ever been to Stockholm? If so, what was it like? Was it expensive? Is the downtown area the place to stay? Are there lots of shops in the downtown area? Any info anyone has on Stockholm would be appreciated.

I was there in 2003. I found it moderately expensive, but having just come from Norway, it was oh so much nicer to my wallet.

As in any city, I would stay downtown. They have boat hotels, don't fall for it. Can get better and cheaper place to stay inland. I don't recall any more or any less shops in the center than one would expect.

Can't really say too much, it's nice, lots of water around, some stuff to see, but it's no Paris or Rome. Lots of kebab shops I remember. Place is full of Iraqi refugees now.
