SAD passing of an Era: Curtains for Bell Labs

Back in the day, your phone bill, not your 1040, paid for much of the advances in 20th Century technology. The seeds for almost everything you touch and use in today's life were germinated in Ma Bell's research lab.

No more.

Today, Great Grandson of Ma Bell is ... Google. they've STATED that they intend to more or less pick up the ball and carry it.

Here's hoping they do.
