That is great news, this kid has awsome potential and I love his style. Hard hitting defense and loves making the runs up the wing.

This does raise the question, Volz or Liam and if Liam, does Volz play second fiddle?!

I was thinking the same thing. I like both players. Is there a way one them (preferably Rosenior) can be converted into a right midfielder?

Good question Mike. I do think it is time for Liam to get some more consistent first team appearances. He was a non-factor the first third of last season and it was not until Volzy was hurt against West Brom that Liam returned to the first team.

It would be great to see Volz and Liam in the match at the same time with one playing right-back and the other playing as a right winger, but Chris Coleman does not seem to be in favor of that.

If I were to choose, I would give Liam a chance to prove himself week in and week out. He at least deserves that chance in my opinion.

I also like both players but both being young talents, it just won't make sense to have them unless they both agree to battle it out each week. Liam could play in the midfield (Did you know he was a striker at Bristol City when we bought him?!) but we already have too many midfielders including: Bullard, Brown, Bouba, etc.

There was a rumor that Liam and Cookie got into a rift due to playing at Left back too much and I'm hoping we can actually sign a left back ASAP.

Does anyone know when Volzy's contract runs out and/or if he refused to sign an extension??

    Re: RE: Rosenior extends contract

According to footballtransfers.net, Volzy's contract runs out after the upcoming 2006-2007 season.

I have heard over the past six months of him possibly moving back to Germany. But, it has been a few months since I have heard anything further.

As for having a lot of midfielders, it might seem like we have a lot, but once the injuries kick in as we all know they will, our numbers will be down. Additionally, we lack wingers with the pace Liam has. If Steed leaves, we will be hard pressed to find a replacement on the right wing without dipping into the transfer market.

    Steed, leave already!

Rosenior looked pretty good at the end of last season. Volz seems to have talent also. But for a left back, Bocanegra looked pretty decent there during the Cup. Throw O-O in there (shhh), and the D starts looking pretty stout.

    left to right?:

    Boca - O-O(shhh) - Volz - Rosenior ????

Is Bridge coming back? Of course we have to consider where Zat will play, some would say unfortunately.

Rock on for Rosenior. It's good news he's at Fulham until 2010.

in the volz v rosenior debate i am more of a volz fan for playing him as first choce right-back.I feel he is way more consistant and an all-round better player than rosenior.
Rosenior is a big-game player i feel. Doesnt quite get into it when its a smaller game like bolton, west brom.etc. (Except for that goal-line save againstcity, bloody awesome!) But i love rosenior for the reason that he versatile.

What I've seen of the guys has been impressive. I like the idea of playing both him and Volz on the right. If he has forward/midfield experience, he might prove a good balance with Boa in Steed's old role.

In any event, it's great that we're hanging on to good young talent.
